I carried these throughout my trip to Kyoto where tamari is hard to find. It was fairly easy to open them each time I had sushi. There's a sweet spot on the top that you have to find to tear it open. After a couple of tries you'll have it down. I also carry them around in the US just in case a sushi restaurant doesn't have tamari. I am gluten-sensitive and was very happy to have them on my travels.

My fiancee has a gluten ALLERGY and even the slightest bit of gluten makes her really sick. Bought these after a sushi restaurant gave us "gluten-free" soy sauce that wasn't gluten-free. if you want something done right, do it yourself. Put these in my car so that I have them when we eat sushi. No more surprises!
