Great Radio for a Great Price !

I bought this radio as an incentive to get back on the air after a 20 year hiatus. I had a HR2600 packed away all that time but it does not work any more so decided to replace it with this one. I am not into all of this programming stuff but I am glad that at least it has conventional volume, squelch RF output power, mic gain and RF gain. I am sure there are many that would buy this radio due to the easy conversion to CB but I would not recommend that as it is illegal to operate on CB and also voids the warantee.

RF output is as stated in the specs when connected to a dummy load and also to my 35 year old Collinear Ground Plane antenna. There is a rotary control to use as a vfo and also up down buttons on the mic to change frequency. The noise blanker is effective. The internal speaker is effective in an relatively quiet area and there is provision for a plug in external speaker if desired. I got good reports on the transmit audio and the receive sensitivity is very good as well.

For the most part the comprehensive instruction manual is rather straight forward but I am still trying to figure out how to set up the PL tone and offset for FM repeater operation.

I used this radio for field day 2020 operating as a 1D station and for the most part if I could hear em I could work em with this radio. Of course band conditions will dictate what kind of results you will get.

I would not suggest buying this radio for use on Citizen Band ( CB ) . If you want to be on CB buy a type accepted CB radio ( for a lot less money ) and be legal about it.
Awesome!

Excellent radio! I've had this about a month now and am still finding impressive features, some of which aren't in the manual. I did the extra channel mod to include 11m, super easy and doesn't eliminate 10m or 12m, it just adds another band to the band menu. Tuning now runs from 24.710 to 30.110 MHz and can be tuned in as small as .1 KHz increments by using the push button on the tuning dial to move the cursor under the readout to the desired space and then turn the dial.(this is not in the manual).
The TX sound is incredibly clear. People think the mic is cheap because it's lightweight, DO NOT BE FOOLED! This is an electrete condenser mic and the dual filter is tuned to this specific mic. Don't change mics! It is different from any other mic out there and other mics won't work correctly with the tuned circuit in the radio. If you really have to have a heavy mic just hot glue some fishing weights to this one, that's what the other mics have anyway.
The clarifier is unlocked from the factory, no need to mod it. In fact, it's better than unlocked, it's a menu item with 4 options, off, rx only, tx only, or both rx and tx. I've never seen this ability on any radio, even on modded radios.
SWR is displayed every time you key up. The freq counter switches to an SWR counter when you key up. It has high SWR protection that it also a menu item that you can turn on or off and set the step down level.
This thing's got it all!
Well, almost all.
The only two things I don't like, the bottom firing speaker. Just get rid of it. Is just taking up space in the cabinet. The only place it works is in an overhead mounting anyway. I pulled mine out, maybe it will help with cooling to have the extra airflow through the open holes. Get a good external. No biggie.
The biggie? No direct entry keypad anywhere. A keypad on the mic and this thing would be perfect.
Swing Mod and Horrible Squelch

The media could not be loaded. I bought 2 of these Lincolns and both of them have to be used with the squelch off.If president would look online, they would see that alot of people are complaining about this issue. One owner on worldwidedx.com said he sent his radio in to president twice and they said both times there was nothing wrong.President needs to listen to their customers and take care of them.Like I said I bought 2.Thats almost $600 worth of junk.It sucks listening to static and annoying skip. Also scanning is a bit of an aggravation aswell due to the poor factory squelch settings. This is the only issue I have with these radios but to me,its a big one.If they would fix the issue ,I think it would be the best radio on the market. It makes everything worse when Pesident ignores their customers

If anyone on here is having issues with their ASC or normal squelch, you can go into the engineering menu and fix it yourself. But beware you can screw up your radio if your not careful. There are directions a member posted on worldwidedx.com.Look for President Lincoln choppy squelch,or something like that.

UPDATE: The squelch still sux but l recently did some additional grounding which really helped the squelch to work properly. The above photos are of a "swing mod" I installed. It has made my 2 radios absolutely awesome. To the point that I almost dont care that the squelch sux.If interested in doing yours, the 2 components I used is a 4148 Diode and a 100 ohm Resistor,in series. You can see the pics for orientation.I got the instructions off worldwidedx forums,I recommend reading there first.Search "Swing kit for president lincoln 2 + ".After installation you will need to adjust your pots.I can DK 2watts and swing 12 watts RMS.The biggest benefit is being able to drive an amplifier.
awesome radio

I wanted the Lincoln 2 after seeing it for the first time, was either the Lincoln or the grant 2 i still have my HR2510 which due to scarce availability of parts and finals, i hardly run it much anymore i fire her up every now n then to keep the caps from drying out have always used higher end radios, and the so called "10 meter" exports which tend to drift terribly on ssb, have the same cold solder joints or the same cracking of boards constantly as every other model offered with the ept3XXX series boards ranger, connex, galaxy or some backyard or hack c.b "tech" has golden screwdrivered it to death yanking out mod limiters, "massive" wattage tune ups, added a worthless swing kit or some new found so called tweak that i have had to go and either remove or fix and realign the tx or rx section or in most cases both, anyway president knocked the ball out of the park with this one, once you figure out what everything in the menu does, and how to move the steps for the vfo she is every simple to operate i like the fact you can change the beeps tone i have it set at 2480Khz close to NASA'S quindar outro tone which is 2475Khz so its not too annoying on fm use with a distant station ,echo adjustment isn't as straightforward as it could be is nice to add just a bit for noisy situations to help cut though the qrm, ssb audio reports are crisp and super clean .f.m is crisp with no clipping, AM is a little low which is not a big deal, but its clean, the high cut filter is super nice to get rid of higher pitch static sounds just like my magnum 257 has ,nice to be able to set echo when needed with the talkback then go in to menu and shut it off, unlike my galaxies never been too fond of the asc circuit even with the uniden c.b radios as it can be a bit too strong at times for weaker stations to break the squelch range, all in all it isn't a yaesu, kenwood or icom but she has the potential to make good contacts, with good audio reports on ssb and fm and am with the right antenna setup either as a base or a mobile very happy with this radio every report gas been great with this radio not sure why others have issues
A highly recommendable transceiver, President Lincoln II V.3+

There is a surprising amount of control for this radio. The receive is extremely sensitive and the high cut filter works really well. For mobile use, the antenna noise limiter and noise blanker are really, really, good. However, I only used it mobile once. It is now a home unit that is powered with a computer power supply. 30 watts AM peak, 56 watts ssb, and just under 40 watts FM are the power measurements into a dummy load. I am not authorised for AM, FM, LSB use on 10 meters because of my lowly license. The RF gain control helps tremendously during noise atmospheric condition days. It is not merely a secondary volume. The roger beep time comes in really handy for 10 meter USB. I set it to 50 millisecond duration and I no longer have to end sentences with, "over," which I hate doing with a passion. With such a short beep set, it does not annoy anybody and It still does the job of removing the, "over," from the end of sentences. 12 meters is only receive for me. My lowly license does not cover 12 meters. CW is smooth with no harsh buzzing or hissing, like some CB/amateur radio combinations are. Speaking of CB, there is supposed to be a conversion for CB that can be done to this radio. It may have something to do with the data port, I am not sure. I already have a CB.

I highly recommend this radio for anybody. You can be a complete novice, like me, or hold the highest license your nation offers, it is the radio for everyone. Even if you do not have a license, it is an excellent receiver for 10 and 12 meters. From what I have heard, with a small conversion, it will even receive 11 meter CB, (probably not transmit). Some business bands can also be picked up, and the end of portion shortwave. It is not a full HF transceiver, but what a radio for £200!
