I really like this pitcher it is the perfect size for our household, 2 liters. Some who rated this pitcher talked about the odor from the rubber gasket in the lid, I am hoping all you really need to do is clean this between new batches of liquid (in my case, ice tea). I gave it four stars as the lid has 3 pieces: a metal pour spout, a gasket that holds the pour spout onto the pitcher, and a metal cap that goes into the pour spout and regulates the flow of the liquids in the pitcher. The metal cap is awkward to get on and does not have the ability to block off all liquid (making it air tight). I also think it would be a better design if it the a pour spout was part of the pitcher and it had a lid with the gasket built into that. With the current design, a tab or handle on the cap for easier positioning and placement would be nice. Some thought it was fragile, but since it is made of borosilicate glass (also used to make test tubes and lab beakers) it should be pretty sturdy and temperature friendly. That being said, If you have quartz or granite countertops and are not careful, this pitcher will likely lose every time (I will not be testing this theory out!).
I liked the quality construction of this pitcher

I liked the quality construction of this pitcher, but what I didn't like was the smell coming from the rubber seal ring. I noticed that the odor even permeated the water I was storing inside it. So, I decided at first to remove the rubber seal ring altogether and lay the stainless steel lid on the open hole holding it in place with plastic wrap. That worked fine and when I poured my water into my glass with the lid removed, it poured out nice and fast and was easy to control despite there was no pouring spout. Then, later on I decided to re-install the rubber ring by first inserting it into a plastic sandwich bag and storing any excess plastic in the space inside the cap. That also worked very well. For good measure, I placed a piece of plastic wrap over the open pitcher hole and then put on the cap which completely sealed the water inside so there was no chance of refrigerator odors of getting inside the pitcher. I am very pleased now with the product. I noticed that other similar products also had complaints for odors even with the white ring they were using. I would have given this a 5 star review if it wasn't for the odor which is probably unavoidable, but at least I solved the problem and it works for me.
A simple, basic design that does what it does beautifully

I spent *ages* poring over different glass pitchers on Amazon. I didn't want any of the plastic pitchers I'd seen in stores since plastic tends to absorb odors over time and I knew that this was going to be used exclusively for tea - many different types of tea. I also knew that I wanted it to sit neatly in my fridge door, which wound up being a critera that ruled out many competing designs, much to my surprise.
This purchase seemed almost too good to be true. A year later, and it's been a solid investment. It's been wonderful for all my teas. The seal works great, the tea pours out neatly without spilling everywhere! My tea remains uncontaminated, which is wonderful. Been considering getting a second one so I can have two different flavors during the summer.
UPDATE July 2023: as happens sometimes with thin glass, I dropped this at a bad angle in the sink last month and it shattered. RIP old friend, you served me well 2/13/18 - 6/14/23.
I only debated for a brief moment before placing another order, and confess I skimmed some options on Amazon, but honestly it really did serve me so well for so long that I figured I'd give it another shot. I'm reusing the same lid and rubber seal and saving the new one for when/if this seal fails. So far the new pitcher seems a worthy successor to the former one. It's been a month and I haven't noticed any defects, so hopefully the quality hasn't declined since 2018. (Though maybe I should test the new gasket and lid once to be extra sure...)

I brew tea in this, directly adding hot water with tea bags. Then I store it in the fridge after it's cooled. It doesn't leak either - a must have for me! Highly recommend this pitcher. I came back to this page today to buy another!
