You might be surprised with what this great camera reveals!

I bought this camera after reading a story in the NYT Magazine recently by a writer whose father had bought a "trail cam." Hunters use them to find active game trails. But the Times story is about what is called the wildland-urban interface, or WUI, where many of us live now. I was fascinated by the story, and figured my home might be in a mini WUI, so I decided to buy my own trail camera. The Bushnell model featured in the story, however, was too expensive. Instead, I chose this BlazeVideo camera on Amazon, which was about half the price of the Bushnell. I couldn't be happier with it! It is simple to set up, and it works great. Boy, was I surprised with what it captured! I live in a fairly densely populated San Diego suburb, and I never expected to find this much wildlife outside my suburban home. Maybe a skunk or a lone coyote, but not three our four coyotes at once, and not a huge bobcat. My neighbors were amazed as well. I've only had it for a few weeks now. The attached video shows just a few of what it has captured thus far. (Wait for the bobcat!) Now I am on the hunt for a mountain lion!
It Works For Captuing Wild Life But Won't Fool A Human

It works if all you want to do is capture wild life. I have it aimed at my front door, hoping to get a photo of the person who's been knocking on my front door in the middle of the night. The rectangular array of red LEDs at the top light up like a Christmas tree so you aren't going to fool anyone. The person now pounds on the back of the house or on the other side of my singlewide outside of camera range. I could get two more cameras and cover the whole house. At least I'm retired and already get up several times in the night to pee anyway so it's not as much of a nuisance as you might imagine. Originally I had it set on normal sensitivity and all I got was some nearby branches blowing in front of the camera. I have it set up in a pine tree. You need to set it to high sensitivity to get it to trigger for something about 40 feet away, as my front door is from the pine tree. I was able to capture several cats prowling at night and the neighbor's little dog that is occasionally let out to relieve itself. I set it to take 3 pictures right in a row and then wait 5 seconds for the next trigger. I got a 32GB San Disk so I can capture over 16,000 JPG photos if I have the size set to 1.6 MB/photo. Rain can trigger it but snow flakes really set it off. I got over 2,500 pictures of snowflakes during the last storm that we had on 1-13-2018. The good news is that although it got down to minus 14 degrees Fahrenheit, that didn't ruin the alkaline AAA batteries inside that are rated to work from 0-138 degrees. The camera itself is rated to work from -22 to 158 degrees. The first picture I've posted is of a cat on my deck. The second picture is the neighbor's little dog. The third picture is one of over 2,500 I got of the last snowstorm.
Great camera

Bought 4 of these. They work very well, exactly as described. One quit working after about 2 weeks. Seller sent a replacement very quickly. Excellent customer service. Would recommend this camera to anyone. UPDATE. I've been using these cameras for about 2 months now. They work very well. Excellent daytime pictures and video. Night time IR video is also excellent. I've seen deer, coyotes, fox, bobcats, and mountain lion. We live on a ranch and set these up at the watering troughs for the cattle and have them set to work mostly at night. Set them so that when a picture is taken they also take a 10 second video. The night time IR pictures are a little blurry but thats to be expected with the long shutter speed needed. Very easy to operate and the manual is very good in explaining the different settings. My brother and sister in-law are also very impressed and may purchase one or two as well. All in all I'm very happy with these cameras and would still recommend them to anyone who wants to know what is coming onto their property. Thanks BlazeVideo, this is an excellent product
For the money spent its good.

With over 1200 pics taken so far. I feel I can now write an informed review.
Daylight photos are incredible. With quick setup settings. This will trigger by birds flying in front of it. Lots of pics of Blue Birds on the ground. Colors are fantastic. And the ability to see the photos without an additional piece of equipment is a bonus by itself.
Now the not so good. IR photos, over flashe'd blurry with any movement of subject. Very seldom do you get a nice pic.
My box was very weather proof so far. Several massive rain storms and one dandy snow storm and nothing wet inside the box.
Overall I will rate this as OK for the money spent. A good introduction into trail cameras.
It will let you know if this is something you want to pursue with more expensive models.

Cameras are good. Customer service is great. Had a problem with the quality of pictures one of the cameras was taking. Cameras are at my deer camp. till i reallized there was a problem and was able to reach out to blazevideo it was day 30. No problem. They sent me out another camera. I recieved it 3 days later. Switched it out at camp and send the defective one back. Who else sends you the replacement, before they recieve the defective.
Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone has occasional defects. Its how you handle them that makes the difference. Will be buying more of these cameras.
