I live in a very old drafty Victorian house that has a lot of bay windows and large open doorways. Being a huge fan of the Addams Family I did a little research into what was traditionally used for cover doorways with no actually door or large entryways. Portières have been used for ages to confine and keep the heat in one room or a series of rooms. These require THICK curtains (which I have used before) but I wanted a nice decorative twist. These fit the bill. I am very happy with the thickness and quality of these curtains. There are not 100% light blocking but I'd say 95% the get really dark. I like the attached valance as well as the sheer. Anyone who has had to do curtains knows it's a royal pain to get things online to match, not to mention expensive. These were the same price as the SINGLE curtains I bought last year with no sheer that were visually similar. Very happy with my purchase, will be purchasing again. They fit perfectly over the large double doorway to my kitchen (48" wide) and are not stretched too thin. It gives the impression they are very thick and robust (which to be honest, they are) but also they are $$$ which they aren't ;) They are also perfectly Eggplant color, which is what I wanted. A dusty dark purple. I will have to hem them a little---but that's not a problem. They fit into a thick 1.5" rod with ease. keep in mind these are heavier curtains so you'd need something more substantial to keep them up---I'd recommend an actual curtain rod or cupped dowel rod. Tension rods will fail, even the thick ones. I kind of wish the sheer was detachable---but I'm crafty enough to make that work.

Just the Tips:
Make sure you use a strong rod to hold these guys--tension rods will not do---trust me on this. Even shower curtain rods. They may work for a bit but these guys are heavy and they will fall. Keep in mind if you have taller people in the house it might be annoying to walk through them.

Block out the light when drawn & has a nice sheer underlay. They are a little pricey for the quality. If they were $20-$30 I'd be okay with it. But the quality wasn't amazing. It has thick fabric and the valance is detailed and pretty. Its actually more detailed than you can see in the photo. ( I purchased black). It is a good neutral black, not blue black.
There were a couple of strings hanging and its kinda cheap fabric that doesn't steam out well. But its hard to tell though unless you touch it or move it. So for cheap fabric its nice and thick and not easy to tell so its worth it. They do look like nice curtains. Overall I'm happy.

I was initially suspicious of buying curtains from Amazon due to not knowing what the quality would really be like but decided to purchase anyway. I must say that I am impressed! They quality was just as pictured with the designs embroidered into the fabric, not just printed as I had feared. The length is just what I needed. The only thing that could have been done better is that they do not block out all light. I have a bright street light outside my window and that still comes through, but overall I am more than satisfied with them.

I am so happy that I bought these curtains, they are beautiful and when closed they give you plenty of privacy, no one can see in. Also,these curtains have an attached sheer connected to each panel so you can open the curtain with the sheer on each side and the Valance is attached to each panel so when you open the curtains there is a Valance on each side of the panel, which lets plenty of light in when opened. I chose the brown color and it goes well with my brown and beige furniture. The All American Collection Drapery set comes in different colors and the brown has a swirl pattern looks very nice. This curtain set comes with two tie backs but I installed a decorative metal curtain tie back in bronze and now I just drape each curtain panel into a metal tie back and this looks very nice.

I returned mine, as color and look was a little different than photo, but still a nice curtain for the money.
