This replacement baffle board for our Hearthstone Clydesdale insert was very economical when compared to a factory original which runs in the neighborhood of $200+. The most difficult part of replacing this board is the removal of the board carrier frame which is quite heavy and somewhat time consuming and difficult to do. You can go to Hearthstone's web site and see the procedure in the page for the Clydrsdale insert. Be very careful how you handle this board as it is very light and fragile. I would suggest that you apply some anti seize to the screws and bolts to make them easier to remove in the future. Since the original board was about six years old, I can't rate how long this board may last. Although this board was received in good condition thanks to its factory packaging, Amazon did a poor job by placing it in an oversized carton with no paper or peanuts to keep it from sliding around.
The fit but I had to cut a little bit of the corner of the larger one.

Fit with a small cut of the larger block
Better than OEM

Maybe I just don't remember how the stove was originally, but I think besides being sturdier than the original baffle and not nearly so fragile, this seems to keep the stove burning even more cleanly than before!
Easy install in Heritage 1

Haven't built a fire yet but seems like a great replacement for the original board on my 19 year old stove. My stove had basically a piece of angle iron holding the board down in the front that was always rattling around. The piece of stainless steel with wires to attach the board is a big improvement. I haven't priced a replacement from Hearthstone in years but I'm sure this is much cheaper. Highly recommend.
Outstanding customer service

I originally was disappointed in this product due to it cracking on 2 units so I wrote to linn mfg. and could not be more impressed with the timely response to me and their genuine interest in the problem. Their response
In short, yes we will certainly replace it. Below is a bit more information on this particular board - as we have made a change to the design to help with the issue you have had.
I apologize for experience you've had with the product. Regarding this particular item, we have actually made a recent change in the design of the board, as we believe part of the cracking to be due in part to the method the board is fastened to the heat tubes with the pins. The high-temperature insulation of the baffle boards actually shrinks as it heats up, where the metal expands, thus creating a lot of stress on the board as it is pinned to the tubes. Nearly all of the failures we have seen end up going through the mounting holes which has led us to believe this is the main cause. We rarely change the design from what the OEM uses, but in this case we believe a change is needed. In the latest version of the board, we have changed the holes to be elongated slots so there is room for everything to expand and contract without stressing the board.
Regarding the break in procedure, we do have one that we recommend, and we have started including it with the boards. I will attach it here for your reference.
For replacements, I completely agree that we should replace your purchase at no cost. I will look at our inventory to see if we have the updated version ready. If we do not, we will send you one of the older versions (likely what you had received prior), and once the new version is complete, we will send you one of those as well.
We do pride ourselves on our customer service - so I'm hoping you find it to be of a high caliber. If you do not, we are always open to hearing any feedback.
Thank you for your business,
Eric
I have received the replacement but have not yet installed it I also received 2 follow up messages to check on whether I received it and how it works. Linn mfg is heads above nearly every vendor on this site and I would recommend using their products to everyone. Again this is what true customer service is.
