Fast light hardtail for XC

Replaced my fox F100 RLC fork with this, while I was deciding what to do about repairing/replacing my suspension fork. I have some other friends that went the rigid route on their XC hardtails, so thought I give it a try. This fork is substantially lighter then the fox, which makes the front end more responsive to the terrain and I have to run lower tire pressure to smooth out some of the roughness. The fork is pretty wide, so I'm going to try a wider tire (2.4) and run lower pressure and see if that is a workable solution. At present it's not very comfortable trail riding with it. The price, fit and finish were good. I believe some people had problems with the brakes, I did not.

Light and well finished, but QC leaves something to be desired. The dropouts were uneven and the brake caliper mounts were off as well. I had to take a dremel to fix the dropouts and file three brake bosses to get them flat. Also for this money I expected a brake cable guide which is not included. I've seen cheaper carbon forks with more attention to detail.

There are several things about this fork that I am guite pleased with.
Pros:
1. It is very robust and solidly constructed. No concerns about build quality or structural integrity.
2. Axle to Crown length is comparable to a 100-120mm suspension fork. This is huge win. I have had several other rigid forks that had odd AC lengths and caused the position and ride to suffer. Not this fork, dead on.
3. Carbon steerer tube. I was not expecting this.
4. Stupid light. My large 29er now ways 19 pounds!
5. Old School 9m QR. Thru axles have got be the single most over rated "advancement" ever. Matching the TPI, thread head depth, and shaft length of thru axles is a royal headache. I'll take a traditional QR any day, this fork has got it.
Cons:
1. Questionable branding and finish. It still looks good, but I would prefer all matte black without the faux polished weave sections. White lettering is over the top for me and cannot be removed.
2. Compression plug not included.
A great fork that will cost you way less than a trip to the grocery.
