Big Dog: Not Sure How Buoyant, But Definitely Strong And Adorable

Pros: My 60 lb dog looks ridiculously cute in this and I can pick him up out of the water by the handle without the vest breaking open, which is great.
Cons: The neck space is very large despite the torso fitting well (19 inch neck and 30 inch waist), meaning you have to fold it a little bit more than is normal; I'm not sure if it is because my dog doesn't have the swimming thing down and his flailing is making it worse (which is why the strength of the vest handle is so helpful), but I don't know how buoyant the vest actually is.
Bottom line: If you are teaching your dog to swim with the goal of him/her eventually not needing the vest, and you want some great photo ops, I would go for it. If you are boating and want something that will definitely bring your dog back to the surface, no matter how strong a swimmer, if s/he goes overboard, I would buy something else.

The large is a perfect fit! I originally bought a medium but my girl has grown so I had to return it. My husky is 57 lbs, height is about 21 inches and her length from nose to tail is about 36 inches. I hope this is helpful as I also look to other reviews for this info myself. The material feels well made and the shark fin kinda flopped to the side because it came packed neatly. I'm sure I can figure it out how to make it stand more but I did buy this vest mostly for her safety. I can't wait to try it out on the lake in July when we take her paddle boarding. So I'll update my review then for how it does in the water. She loves the water but I want to feel extra certain that she will be safe. She does look adorable in it though!
