Made installing a Nest Hello in a house without existing doorbell wiring simple. My OhmKat powered Nest Hello doorbell works perfectly.

In my case there was a baseboard level wall plug 18 inches from the interior door jam molding. Purchased a 12 inch long 3/16 inch "installer" drill bit here on Amazon, made some careful measurements, and drilled a hole from the edge of the interior door jam molding through to the exterior position of the doorbell. After threading the OhmKat power lead through the hole and connecting the Nest Hello, I used small wire staples to run the OhmKat power cable along the edge of the door molding down to the baseboard molding, then along the baseboard to the wall plug outlet. Painted the OhmKat cable to match the wall and molding and the installation is almost invisible.

Note to OhmKat: Please consider offering a version of your product in white. It would make the device blend in well for your customers with white walls, or make painting the cable a one coat process for others.

It does exactly what it says it will do and does it well. Might be a little expensive but it does seem well-built and the company stands behind their products so I'm willing to pay for that.

Couldn't get the regular wiring to work so I bought this. Plugged it in and it instantly turned on and worked. A bit costly for what it is in my opinion but worked great.

You can use this to install a video doorbell without already having doorbell wiring outside. All you need is a place to plug it in. In my case I want to get my doorbell working and have the ability to test it before actually installing it outside at the front door. This device worked perfectly for that. I was able to connect my doorbell to power via this adapter and make sure it works properly before going outside and installing it there.

Works as advertised for new Nest Hello. Minus 1-star because I have a strong hunch many of the other less expensive adapters on amazon would have worked just as well. In the end it was worth the premium to me - to avoid any possible compatibility hassles - as I am not an electrician and could not tell you the difference between a Volt and an Amp.

We had a Newline Video Doorbell (circa 1990's) that ran from our kitchen (where the indoor video monitor was installed) to where our doorbell should have been - outside the front door. Once we removed the old equipment we discovered a 5 wire, 22 or 24 gauge (small) wire in the wall (think thermostat wire) - likely a 50ish ft run to the kitchen through the attic. I simply plugged this adapter into the wall, spliced it with the existing wires in the kitchen - then hooked the same two wires to the Nest Hello at the front door. Stuck it on the wall, plugged it in - and that's all it took.

If you do have wires in the wall - that are not powered by a transformer in your garage or attic - like we did - you should be able to use those wires without having to try and pull several extensions of this cable through your wall. Just be SURE you don't have power on any wires that are pre-existing.
