Alternative to glass

Purchased to use on an office desk instead of glass. I have mixed feelings. It protects and was easy to unroll and put in place although it took about 2 weeks to lay flat. It doesn't slip and slide like another brand I bought. I couldn't get the exact size of the desk so it is a bit short but it doesn't affect me since it is a large desk but it looks strange. It is sticky. Not gooey sticky, but my arms stick to the top when I am typing or writing. Other things stick too. I can't slide my keyboard around; it must be picked up to move. Same with phone, cups, water bottles = they actually stick. I thought cleaning might help but didn't. The most aggravating for me is the edge is straight cut so it is sharp and irritates my arms. It was a fraction of the cost of tempered glass so I am going to continue to use with some adjustments.

This is an adequate table protector pad for what it is and the price. We purchased a new 30" x 60" dining room table and knew we wanted to protect the surface. Ordered this and have had it on the table for several weeks. We did put books on the "inside of the roll" end the pad from how it had been rolled up, but there is still a bit of waviness to the pad even know. I hope that will eventually flatten out over time. My spouse rolled it the opposite direction to try to remove the waves, but it didn't change it much. But it does protect the table from heat and scratches and other things. Size-wise, it is just a tad long (maybe 1/2") and is exactly 30" wide. So it works well and does the job. With a tablecloth, you don't even notice the waviness, but without one it is visible though we do not care as the table is protected and that's what matters more.

If you're looking for a way to protect your wooden dining table surfaces without having a pay an arm and leg for custom glass top this is a great alternative. These 1.5mm clear PVC clear table top protector come in a large roll. You do need to unroll and heat it up to get it to flatten properly especially the edges. Nothing a hot blow dryer can't handle though. Then simply lay some heavy items on the edges for a few hours and it will be completely flat. The material is totally crystal clear so make sure your table top surface is completely clean or even refinished or you will see the imperfections. The table top is rated at 176F so pretty heat resistant to the hottest plates. But do not place any hot pots directly on it as it will melt still! The surface is super easy to clean too with a simply wet kitchen towel. Overall a great table top protector that will help preserve your old or expensive tables for generations.

I purchased the 2mm thick cover and am super pleased with this product! I wanted protection for my dining table that was passed down to me from my grandmother, to my mother, to me. I have a couple of cats, that in their play, have already gotten scratches on some other items in my home but I didn't want this table to receive any damage. The 2mm unrolled nicely and is heavy enough to stay in place if the cats jump up on the table. Ironically, my one cat doesn't like the feel of this cover so she doesn't even jump up on it at all anymore. That works! I cut it with a scissor to fit my table. That wasn't too hard to do either. I've had it for a few weeks now and it still looks perfect. I just wipe it off with a slightly damp cloth as needed. I have not put anything real hot on it so don't know about it's heat resistance?! I have people put their plates on table mats.
