Decent power, but make sure you have relatively efficient speakers. It works OK with my pair of Definitive Technology BP2 di-pole speakers (designed as rear theater speakers and about the same size as a large toaster) which I re-purposed with this amp to amplify music from an Amazon Echo device in my kitchen using bluetooth. At moderate volume, it's ok. The amp has a bit of trouble driving these speakers at higher volume levels and it shows in extremely shallow and strained bass response. I suspect it would work a lot better with Klipsch or other more modern efficient speakers. The only other nit is that the remote doesn't work. I don't really care much since I can control the volume with the Echo, but it would be nice to have access to other features and not have to click through using the volume button on the amplifier itself.

Summary: I'd buy one again if I had more efficient speakers to drive.

Not for me. The amp was loud enough and reasonably well made but all the magic and excitement t of the humble hybrid tube amp it was replacing had vanished. That tube amp got fried somehow after 3months but I didn't realize how awesome it was until it's digital replacement, this SMSL AD80, arrived. The music from the SMSL sounded just so blah that by the third day i couldn't take it and packed it up and back to amazon it went. Also I should point out in particular that I am mighty skeptical about that strange sub woofer out port. The sound coming out of my powered sub was so quiet and such a shadow of what it had been with the tube amp that I was afraid my subwoofer got fried along with tube amp. But when I split the signal off from a pre amp to the sub it was back to its thunderous self. So maybe mine was a defect but the sub out on mine was close to non functional. Also..... The EQ settings must be mentioned. So I went to college in the mid 90s when the Aiwa all in one sound system haunted us college kids with terrible performance and sound. The most detestable aspect of all on those (and there were many) was the pre set EQ settings where each one made your music sound progressively worse. Inna nutshell, little has changed. "Jazz" with actual jazz was worst of all On this SMSL btw. Anyhow, "no eq" was alright. And the music was loud and it was clear enough. It just wasn't the same captivating music full of depth and sparkle and shading and texture and nuance and detail etc.... I have been spoiled by the tube amp sound and there is no going back. I should also mention that I was running two vacuum tube pre amps into the SMSL and I thought that would be enough to give me the sound i was looking for plus all the benefits of a digital amp. However it simply didn't work for me. Also everything was quite hard to read on the tiny screen. Like I said though, the unit was well made and the many good reviews attest to its usefulness for many so I don't want to be too harsh. It just did not work for me.

I've had the SMSL for a few weeks now. I hooked it up to my Bose 301's expecting it not being able to push them very hard. The reviews I had seen were it powering much smaller bookshelf speakers. Let me tell you..... This thing is incredible!!!! Not only did it push my 301's but it pushed them HARD!!! I have nice floor standing speakers also. I almost feel like the SMSL AD 18 would power those as well! This unit is very solid with great build quality. I have had no issues with it yet. I am having a hard time putting into words just how impressed I am with this little powerhouse!! I have shown it off constantly and everyone has been impressed with it as well with eye popping and jaw dropping results!!! Also... the Bluetooth is incredible! I pumped up the volume and walked all around my whole house changing songs and volume levels on 2 floors (not including my basement) from end to end top to bottom with NO issues what so ever! In my photo the SMSL is to the left of my PS3 (yes I still play it... Lol)
You will not be disappointed with the SMSL AD 18 if you decide to purchase one!!!

Update.....
I've hooked it up to my 10" powered sub. 8th inch headphone jack to red side (mono) rca. The ad18 runs it great!!! I let it play for a while with some hard hitting bass to see if the unit heated up. It ran a little warm but nothing to be concerned about. I had the volume on my phone at full with the volume on the unit at 20. I think the bass on the unit is at 4. The sub was set to about 90 hz. And regular polarity with the sub volume a little over quarter way up. Still very impressed with this little power house!!!

I had the AD running optical from my cable box which was great. Come to find out my Samsung TV has Bluetooth and can search for devices. I searched and found the AD18 and paired no problem. Even better I can control the volume through my Samsung remote now. I just leave the AD18 on because even though it's paired with my tv, evertime I turn off the tv it disconnects. So leaving it on means all I have to do is connect to it beings that it's already paired which is fine. I'm still amazed at this little power house!!!

I really like the feature set of this integrated amplifier...especially for the price.
Unfortunately, my first one had a fair amount of noise. It sounded like intereference and I thought maybe it was due to the AC Infinity cooling fans I had to ventilate my pre-existing AVR. However, the sound persisted after I turned the fans. I don't have anything else that should be causeing interference noise, so this one needs to go back.
Thus, I am currently 0 for 1.
I will maintain a tally until I get a good one as this is a perfect solution for my needs (assuming I can find one that works properly).
If the reviews are legit, it seems there are more good ones than defective units.

Update:
Well the second time was the charm for me!
The second one one works great (the only thing I haven't tested is the subwoofer output). I will up my overall rating from 2 to 3 stars.
If SMSL would get their QC checks worked out, their rating would be excellent because when it works it is a great product with tremendous flexibility!

I should also add that I am an amateur musician and an avid audio-nerd. Music is my passion and I have more audio gear than sense. I bought this out of curiosity and was pleasantly surprised once I got a good unit. This amp sounds perfectly fine, has good power, and will do fine with normal speakers.

I really like this amp, it sounded great with an optical connection from my Samsung Smart TV and my Vivid 3 way EM-4's. The manufacturer recommends a 120 Watt RMS amp to power these speakers and they sounded great with the SMSL AD18 HiFi Audio Stereo Amplifier.
Here is why I took off two stars; first time I bought this the large selector knob on the front (which was otherwise nice and smooth) didn't work. Amazon accepted the return quickly and efficiently and I purchased another one because I really wanted this work work after the research I'd done. The second time I purchased this amp the remote control didn't work. I notice the quality control slip in the box and wondered who was sleeping not the job in quality control. I again want to purchase this amp but it's becoming more work that I really want to put into this with the returns although Amazon accepted the 2nd return as well. I haven't found much in the range for features and power that this unit offers and so I'm quite torn on what to do, I'm not anxious for 3rd return and more down time for the entertainment system I have but I can't find a replacement for this unit that's competitive either. If I decide to purchase another one I'll update my rating with my experience....3rd times the charm?
