I'm pretty sure "stud finders" are child's toys with LEDs that randomly light up somewhere within 16" of the stud. And I've tried many of them. Even the magnetic ones are an exercise of blind pin the tail on the hidden screwhead. My kids have watched me drill into a "stud" I marked only to have the screw slip into emptiness behind the sheetrock. Then a hole slightly to one side (always the wrong direction) and finally hit something slightly to the other side. Usually I am competent enough to find the stud after two random holes in the gypsum and a worthless LED child toy beeping a laugh at me.
That all changed when I found this sensor. Zero calibration needed, zero depth setting needed, zero electrical setting needed. Put it on the wall, click the button and whallah, it finds studs...and they are actually studs! I built a floating shelf with my kids the other day and no random holes...I was SuperDad again!!
