Best alarm clock you'll ever own. I had been searching forever for an alarm clock that wouldn't go off on weekends for my kids that also had a radio. I had gotten a fancy projection clock for myself but didn't want to spend $30 a clock for each of my kids. This clock had all the features I needed. A bonus is that the time isn't too bright (a problem on all my other clocks) with so many things giving off blue light, a known sleep disruption I was thrilled when I plugged this in. It also immediately knew the time and date. The radio seems to work great so far. My kids have no problem getting up in the morning. Both alarms go off at the same time and are set to the same channel so we get a surround sound effect. Which even makes for a good weekend dance party while they clean their rooms. I even use the sleep feature as a timer (when the radio goes off it's time to be down stairs/brush your teeth etc.)

Wow! Did I ever need this. I suffered along with an old analog clock radio for several years until I finally had had enough and got this one. Wow! What a difference. It is so nice. All digital. All automatic. Battery backup. So nice. It's true, the blue lights light up the whole room. I put my pillow over the thing when I go to bed at night. No big deal. I like it.

Clock Radio - Emerson CKS1708 Smart Set Radio Alarm Clock [0738 - 2017-03-18]

I needed to replace a clock-radio in my kitchen area. I diligently searched for one that was reasonably priced (ok, cheap), look decent, had a large bright time display, sounded good and had some innovative features. This item was exactly what I wanted as detailed below:

PROS:
· The first big surprise was when you initially plug it in - the display automatically displayed the correct date and time. This along with your manual settings - station selections - alarm functions are "memorized" within the device via a backup battery factory installed - nice!
· Experience a power failure or unplug the device and all settings are restored when the power is reapplied via the backup battery/circuitry.
· Bright, large numerals are easy to see from across the room. The day of the week is shown is small blue letters below the time display.
· Sound was decent for the device's compact size. As you adjust the volume a numerical display increases or decrease so that's kind of cool.
· Some nice features: an outlet to charge your phone or what have you is located on the back of the device and there is a cavity on the bottom to store the AC cord.
· Size/footprint: about the size and shape of a pound of butter.
· Cost: I paid $18.95 for this clock radio on Amazon in Mid February 2017. Considering the features and checking out the other offers on Amazon this is a no-brainer bargain in my opinion.
· Reliability: OK I've only had it short period of time but I use it several hours a day and have had no problems. We lost our power twice and all settings were restored when the power returned.
CONS:
· OK it's small, does a lot and has some multi-purpose buttons. Considering all that you have to carefully read and follow the instructions which are good but complicated. Best to play around with it a couple of times before you get serious with the alarm settings. One good thing if your good to go unplugging it or a power failure won't wipe out your settings.

'CONCLUSION:
All things considered I would recommend this item. Even if it died on me, say within a year or so, I would buy it again.

My kitchen radio is function fine after multiple daily on/offs. We loose out power here in NH at lease one or twice a month (oh those tricksters at the electric utility! - I do pay my bill on time!) and NOT having to reset the time-date-and station is a great thing I say..

I recently purchased two more - one for the bedroom and one for the shed/workshop. The set up and functions worked with no issues. As I said for the price I'll continue to recommend this item.

I really like the Alarm Clock Radio, only complaint I have is with the instructions,they could save just a little more money by printing it just a wee smaller, my goodness, I had to break out my major magnifying glass just to be able to decipher what button to push to get the results I wanted. I really like the Smart Set, a feature that is needed to help you set your clock after a power outage, or when you first set it up. The Numerical display is really large and can be easily seen at night. It has a USB charging port, but the port does not charge very quickly, some of my devices even tell me to use another charging station. All in all, a very nice Clock Radio.

When I first purchased this clock, I thought it was great. Easy to use and understand... but then, after 1 month... it's insides went BOOM! I noticed that the display was screwy so I unplugged the clock and plugged it back in. After plugging it back in, the display simply didn't come back on. The clock just stopped working. So I got my warranty out only to find that I would have to pay (at my cost) to send the clock back to Emerson plus include a check in the amount of $10. What a ridiculous warranty. It would cost me roughly the cost of a new clock to have it replaced under their warranty.. Shame on you Emerson for stating you have a warranty when in reality, you simply make the consumer purchase another one of your clocks. This is the last Emerson product I will ever own. Buyer beware!!!
