Using it with my Telo as a security system for my beach condo. Works great. Have had two alerts, one when exterminator came in and another when a friend (with a key) dropped something off for me. Call was almost instantaneous. When I got the call I pulled up my camera and watched them enter the condo. That's how fast the call was. I haven't mounted it yet, just have it sitting on a counter near the front door. Great thing is that this is a free security system when using with the Ooma Telo service. $5 per month for unlimited phone and now security. Well pleased.
Dont get suckered, you must pay for the security system to work.

Just got off the phone with Ooma. This device does not mention that you MUST sign an agreement for service that will cost you a monthly fee. You may sign up for a free trial but when thats over, according to a manager at Ooma, will not work any longer. One customer service rep told me you must sign up for the free trial then opt out to get the basic service, the second manager, the one you speak to after 58 minutes on hold, said after you opt out your unit will not work any longer. These terms are not mentioned anywhere, you will find them when you install the app on your phone and try to pair with your Ooma telo. I cant believe Ooma is stooping to this tactic, Ive been with them for over 10 years now.

I have an older Telo, but Ooma support said it would work with a couple of home security sensors.
Figured I'd try the water sensor to test out the home security features. The first one I received, I put the batteries in, downloaded the app, and walked next to my Telo. On the phone, I hit the 'add sensor' and picked 'water sensor'. My Telo unit proclaimed loudly, "Pairing' (or something like that). However, my phone showed that the sensor was not connecting.
I tried the button on the water sensor - to put it in pairing mode. Nothing. Not only wouldn't it pair, there were no lights going on. No battery check, no pairing light, nothing. I took the batteries out and back in. When i put the second battery in, the light on the sensor lit up very briefly. But that was it.
Tried replacing the batteries. Again, nothing. More batteries, from a different new box. Nothing. Tested all the batteries - all in the 1.6v range.
Called support...they said it was defective, return it.
Sent it back. Got the replacement from Amazon in two days. Tried the new one... SAME ISSUES.

Seems odd that I'd have the same issues twice, but that's what's happening.

Just for kicks, I checked the Telo, firmware says version: 240828. But even if the firmware is old, or doesn't even support the home security devices, the battery life indicator on the sensor itself should show some sign of life.

As a final note, I am a long-time fan of Ooma as a telephone service. I've had it for several years and have had very few issues. I am still a big fan of the company and I like the idea of the home security capabilities, especially for the low monthly cost. So I'm hoping to try this again in a few months to see if things improve. Or, if I'm just completely missing something, please point it out!

Overall, I like the product. It appears to be well made. Easy to install if you have the up to date software on your old telo. I had a doifficulty in setting up the modes and it is difficult to understand the set up even with the technical explanation. I have installed it in my secondary home. To ensure the product is working (and not disconnected) I change the modes at night and in the morning. The app gives me an alert when there is a mode change giving me comfort that the unit is hooked up to the internet. I tested it with water and it is working. It is installed in an A.C. Closet and there have not been any false alarm. The wi-if connection does not drop off and if there is an internet outage it reconnects when the internet is restored, an important feature if you are not at home.

Reviewing the Ooma Motion Sensor: Installed easily and paired with my Ooma base unit quickly. The settings in the app are a bit confusing but I figured them out through trial and error. Since I am retired and don't operate on a fixed schedule, I am not using the scheduling function, I simply change the mode between Home and Away from the app. One thing I would change is to make it easier to change modes in the app - the slider is "sticky" and hard to slide. The sensor seems to be working fine. No false alarms from curtains or mobiles blowing around in the furnace hot air currents. It detects me immediately and rings my cell phone very quickly when I come in from the garage when coming home. So the one-star deduction relates to the app, not the sensor.

This device desperately needs an Amazon Alexa interface for activation and deactivation (mode changes between home/away/night)!
