I use this with ceramic clay to make really pretty backgrounds. It's made for cookie dough, but I haven't used it for that yet. I have found that with all the nooks and crannies on the roller, it is much easier to use a sheet of plastic wrap on top of the clay/dough before you roll the roller on it.
Roll with a flat rolling pin first and then roll with deco roller, then peal off the plastic wrap and you have a very pretty pattern.

It's a lot of money, but I adore this design! I wanted it for so long before I bought it. I use it on fondant as well as cookies and plan to try it on pie crust. Truly a work of art.
Beautiful Designs for Embossing Shortbread

I received this beautiful rolling pin yesterday and couldn't wait to use it. Today I made shortbread and used it to decorate the dough. It was super easy to use and worked so well ... it made the prettiest shortbread (see photos). It's a work of art on its own and I'm thrilled with it. I plan to order additional rolling pins in different patterns. NOTE: I wasn't sure if I should wash it before using it the first time and read different sites that said not to use soap on wooden rolling pins so before first use, I simply rinsed it well in hot water and scrubbed it gently with a mushroom brush. Then I patted it dry with a terry cloth towel and let it dry completely overnight. After embossing all the dough, I used a small paint brush to clean all the crevices.
