Worth the $$$, makes pounding T post a delight
busyguy•July 24, 2018
Joyful and triumphant. This puppy weighs about 35lbs fully loaded with gas and oil (keep that I'm mind as this is an overhead lift), and it works like a charm. You do want to wear hearing protection when using. At idle it is very quiet, but when pounding T post it gets LOUD. Easy start, reasonable instructions, intuitive simple controls. This item beats the crap out of pounding in T post by hand with a sleeve. The carrying case is well made, has wheels and easy to transport. The Honda engine is a dream. It even comes with the needed engine oil and piston lube. Total package, open the box and start improving your fence line. The ergonomics are great, your hands and fingers dont have to stretch and fiddle.
I live in an area with soil like concrete and lotsa rocks. Pounding T post by hand with a metal sleeve is an adventure in futility, pain and profanity. I pounded 25 7-foot T post on a rocky hilltop in less than an hour using this baby and I was NOT worn out. That would have been a 8 hour flail by hand, and I would have collapsed on the couch after.
Only downside: the device uses a "˜plastic' sleeve to guide the post into the piston, and to limit lateral travel. These sleeves are not really plastic as other reviewers have said, they are a reinforced carbon fiber ring on a plastic shell and quite sturdy. However, they will break at some point. The only place to get new ones is Titan web site and they are about $5 each and shipping is $30 (I kid thee not) unless you order $75 worth. Kind of a rip off. Still, a single low point in an otherwise stellar machine.
If you have ongoing fence projects and want to make them go fast, this is the machine. Well worth the $$$

It's tough to spend this kind of money on a tool that doesn't have a review. It has proven its self to me. If I was the manufacturer I would change a couple of things. 1st , the depth that the T post goes into the pounder , should be about 6" deep to help stay on the T post, it sets over the T post about 3". 2nd, the plastic sleeve that threads over the driver end should be something other than plastic. Also a tighter fit over the T post would be better. I have driven in about 60 T posts and the plastic piece I am speaking about is cracked, I need to purchase another one.
Overall, it's a nice tool , not to heavy.

If you got the dough, go for it.

Nice tool for building t-post fence in hard ground. A little awkward to balance when first starting, but with the help of a step latter or the tailgate of a truck, it sure is a nice break from the same old arm numbing routine of using a pipe with handles.
