This switch might help if the fan in your microwave runs when the door is open. (It's an easy do-it-yourself project!)

I ordered these replacement switches for my GE over-the-stove microwave (model # JVM1740SP1SS) because the fan would run whenever the door was open. If you have this issue, know that there are THREE of these switches behind the door handle. The one that controls the fan is somewhat hidden, and you have to remove the mounting bracket in order to access it (the other two switches are in plain sight when you remove the control panel. I'm not an electrician, nor do I know anything about how microwaves work, but I was able to replace this switch on my own with the help of a video on YouTube. It was so easy! So if the fan in your microwave runs when the door is open, know that you can fix it yourself if the issue is a broken switch like this. Note: I didn't need two switches but figured it wouldn't hurt to have an extra lying around.
Saved me a bundle of money.

Saved me a bundle of money. I was all set to buy a new microwave because my Kenmore 721.81043700 microwave stopped heating and the turntable stopped turning. But I saw a YouTube video that indicated that a defective micro switch is a likely culprit when both of these symptoms happen at the same time. I had to take the microwave down and open it up, but after I replaced the upper switch (see photo) the microwave is running perfectly again.
Easy to do

My GE microwave fan was turning on when I open the door. My wife got kind of scare thinking that her hand was about to get cook while the door was open. I explain to her that was not the case, however, was annoying. I order this item not realizing that there were to different kind. One normally open and one normally close. I was happy because I needed both in my microwave. The top one is a normally open (was good), and the bottom clip of the door has two, one open and one close. The close one was broken but I replaced both of them. I watch videos in youtube on how to do it, and it was very simple. Unplug the microwave, remove the two screws on top, slide the top toward the left and pull, remove one more screw on top of the control model and remove the small screen. To remove the assembly were the switches are located you may need a star tip to remove the to small screws from the front of the microwave with the door open.
Good deal, and a cheap, fast fix!

You get two of these for less than the price of one OEM switch. My Samsung microwave uses TWO of these (and a third, different switch). Took a chance and replaced the two, hoping I didn't need to hunt for the other kind. Fifteen minute fix. Microwave works!
MICROWAVE BROUGHT BACK FROM THE DEAD

If your microwave won't heat but everything else works, it's probably the door switch. The red button is depressed when the door closes. The switches burn out eventually but can be replaced with some knuckle banging. Check YOUTUBE for videos on how to do it.
