Works, but below its 150sq ft max.
steven sApril 11, 2018
So far I've had this dehumidifier for about a week now. I read the reviews about it and was skeptical about it. So i bought the AcuRite Humidity Monitor to go with it so that i could track how well it does. Here are my stats of as 6 days of continuous use.

Starting out in a bedroom that's 11x12ft which is under the 150sqft limit, my humidity was 67% at 65°f.

During the day it would drop to 62% at 64°f. At night it would reach 73% at 66°f.

For 6 days this trend has continued. It never drops below 62% and goes up to 73%. I have found that it takes about 5 days for the tank to fill up.

So here's the pros and cons.

Pros.
Quite. Like a small desk fan on low setting.
Small. It's only as tall as a standard book.
Long cord.
Works to some extent.

Cons.
Doesn't work well in ~65°f temp.
Can't handle a bedroom of 11×12ft.

All in all, works but I wouldn't get it for anything bigger than a 9×9ft room.

We live in Seattle where it is very wet and this thing fills up so much that we need to empty it about every 2-3 days. So, it is definitely working to collect water from the air. However, I cannot tell if it is really making a measurable difference in the humidity of our home. I think it is just too small. We have a humidity indicator in our home and we live in the 55-70% range all of the time even with this thing running around the clock right under the humidity indicator. I think to make a measurable difference we would need to purchase a much larger one, but we do not want to invest $300-500 in a humidifier. But if you are curious if this one is indeed capable of removing water from the air, the answer is yes.
Small unit but bug difference!

So happy with this dehumidifier! It's small but it works great in small spaces like my bathroom and laundry room.

I live in the South where it stays humid most of the year. We always have a problem with moisture in our house, especially in our bathrooms, closets, and laundry room. This little dehumidifier packs a big punch. It runs fairly quietly and is perfect for small areas. It fits great on the countertop or shelf... you don't have to take up floor space with a big unit!

I was so pleased with my first one that I got another to put in another area of my home.
I really dislike cleaning every time someone takes a shower

We do not have exhaust fans in our bathrooms. Our house is older, and they were never installed. Luckily one bathroom (which has the shower in it,) also has a window. In the summer it still gets really hot and humid in there, and I find myself cleaning a lot to prevent mold. I really dislike cleaning every time someone takes a shower, so I got this dehumidifier to put in the bathroom. It is the perfect size, and works great to get rid of extra moisture after showers. Plug it in, turn it on, and once the basin is full, the machine automatically shuts off. A great investment for anyone with humidity issues in their bathrooms.
Great value and efficiency

I purchased this dehumidifier for a small second-floor hallway that receives little/no ventilation and lacks any HVAC return vent. The hallway tends to get musky in warmer weather so this little machine helps remove water and odor from the air. Before purchasing, I'd recommend to review the dimensions this unit is rated for in comparison to the size of your room. Because my hallway is a little large for this small unit, I'd be better off with a larger dehumidifier, but for the price and small footprint, I'm happy with this purchase. Getting a larger unit has trade-offs, such as increased power consumption, noise, size, and cost. It's probably better for a small bathroom or closet as other reviews have suggested. The unit takes a few days to fill up the water reservoir, is easy to empty, and I haven't had any issues cleaning it after 4+ months of use. The fan can be heard when close to it, but otherwise cannot be heard from surrounding rooms and would just be some slight white noise anyway. The unit works exactly as advertised, but I emphasize that it should be used in a room within the recommended dimensions for maximum results.
