My boat has a factory installed bilge pump that is manually operated. This is fine for people who are day boaters who then trailer their boat home. In my case, I own a lake cottage and the boat is in the water continuously through the summer months. During a hard rain, I want the bilge to be pumped automatically. That's where this pump solved my problem. The factory pump uses a screw in hose, and the Maxzone pump has a barbed exit that required that a hose be pressed on. So, I kept the factory pump and installed the Maxzone. It take a standard 1" plastic hose, which I heated in boiling water and easily press it in place. Once cooled, the hose is held tightly in place on the barb. Then I ran PVC pipe over the transom. I connected the two automatic wires to the terminals of my battery and that completed the installation. I tested it by pouring a couple of buckets of lake water into the bilge and the Maxzone pumped it out automatically. I have the 1100gph model, which pumped the water out at a ferocious rate. Frankly, I could have used the smaller model, but the difference in price was negligible. I am delighted with this pump and the security that it provides me.
Great value!

This little pump is a true workhorse. I have a small leak in my aluminum boat that I can locate so by the end of the day I have a lot of water in the boat and I don't dare leave it in the water for more overnight. With this pump installed I have no worries about too much water accumulating even with heavy rain. I would definitely recommend this product.
