Bought this almost a year ago to use with the custom mermaid tailskins I made. I was able to use it a handful of times, maybe 18hours of use total, only some of that involving heavy swimming. I always dried it fully afterward, only swam in pools (never salt water/ocean), handled and transported it carefully, and adored the heck out of it. Felt like a real mermaid with it on! Has decent propulsion, fits my wide size 8-8.5(women's) feet comfortably, and I even found some water booties that made the fin super comfy and kept it from rubbing on my toe in one spot and causing another blister (happened once and I learned my lesson!) when I'm swimming laps in it. All in all, I thought it was fabulous!
Then I pulled it out to use this summer, as I finally have pool access again...and there's suddenly a big tear at the base of the inside edge of the left foot strap. After paying over a hundred bucks for this thing, I expected it to last FAR longer. Instead, I am now stuck with a damaged fin that I built my expensive custom tailskins around, which means either buying a second very expensive fin here and risking that one tearing, too, or shop around for a new fin, risk it not fitting my wide feet, and then spend a LOT of my precious time and money remaking my tailskins around the new fin. Neither is a good option. VERY upset right now.

While this product is fantastic and easy to use, we were disappointed that within a few weeks of having the fin, one of the straps tore near where it connects to the foot pocket and can't be repaired. To continue using it, would ruin it so now it sits in a corner of my daughter's room and takes up space.
Super power for mermaiding!

Holy moly this thing is like being a mermaid on steroids! The power you get is awesome! It was also comfortable! I got a small cuz it was on sale. I am a size 7, it's a wee bit tight but not horribly so and works like a charm!
but glides great in the water

I have to say, if I'd left a review last week it would have been 5 stars hands down. I even recommended it swimmers at my gym. I have had this fin less than 60 days. I use it 8 hours a week for cardio and it worked like a dream...until today i noticed both straps are ripping.
This is my second Luna. I returned the first in less than 30 days because a strap ripped. When the replacement arrived I noticed tiny nicks in the silicone at the edges where it was trimmed after molding. I thought about returning immediately, but figured I was over reacting.
Since I knew rips could happen I was extra careful with this one, followed all instructions and even kept it in padding for travel.
I think there is pour quality control 2/2 with an identical problem, which is disappointing from a company like Finis. Getting a third fin would be foolish, so now I either have to find out how to repair silicone or go with the Mahina.
I the pictures you can see the tiny cut on arrival, the large crescent shaped tear on the first fin, and the tear on the new fin. If anyone has any idea how to repair I'd love to hear cause it WAS a great fin while it lasted, but I didn't even get a dollar a day out of it.
Update 5/8/18 found a way to repair it, sort of...aquarium silicone will work. Tried Silpoxy, it held until I tried to swim in it, then the rip spread further. In the end I had to cut out a half circle around the tear and reinforce the strap and footpocket with silicone. Not pretty but salvaged. I did get the Mahina and it's a good fin, lot of work to move it, great workout. But the Luna is way more comfortable.
