Poor quality

After using this press for three weeks a tiny hole right next to the pour spout appeared and the vacuum insulation was compromised. Not well made for how much they charge.
Really nice French press with a few points to keep in mind

Definitely a well-built and attractive unit. We are very pleased with the ease of use and the spout which does not leak or splatter when pouring coffee (unlike some other brands we have used). Aesthetics and construction - 5+ stars! I have yet to experience the coating flaking off as others have stated, but I don't put mine in the dishwasher and use a soft cloth/brush to hand wash it.

The *only* disappointment is that the coffee does not stay nearly as hot if you let it stay in the coffee maker (which you really shouldn't do anyway, see my comment later about that). I always pour extremely hot water into the unit, let it stand for a minute to "preheat" the container, pour it out and then add the coarse ground coffee and add new hot water from our tea kettle. Still, the coffee drops in temperature faster than we would have expected for a vacuum insulated unit.

THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE A THERMOS CONTAINER
Others have stated that the coffee becomes bitter when drinking the 2nd cup, but this is true with all French presses if you leave the coffee grinds in the press with the coffee after it brews. Many "coffee purists" suggest that you let the hot water "brew" in the press for the appropriate amount of time (varies depending on coffee, grind size, and your taste), and then immediately pour the entire contents into a preheated thermos or container to separate the brewed coffee from the grinds. This in itself solves the dropping temperature issue as I pour it into a high quality, vacuum sealed thermos which keeps the coffee hot longer. I use a Zojirushi stainless bottle which I bought on Amazon and works well. The coffee stays hot for hours though my work morning.

Cleaning is typical for a French press...you just have to thoroughly wash the filter with running water until all of the grinds come loose. You may need to use a soft bristle brush or toothbrush to do a thorough cleaning. Also watch out for some of the sharp edges on the attachment while you operate the press and/or clean it. I've cut my finger already!

METAL VS GLASS DEBATE
The only other comment I have to make is that metal coffee presses and thermoses can affect the flavor of coffee. In fact, I prefer my coffee made in glass and poured into glass or ceramic cups but the difference is so negligible that only a few connoisseurs will tell the difference.
My new fav' coffee maker in the house

This is the best French press I've ever owned: after going through half a dozen Bodum presses, finally one that keeps the coffee warm longer and ... major plus! ... doesn't break. I've used it now for about a month: I am impressed how clean the filter has been so far, there are hardly any grinds trapped in the press when I wash it. I noticed that some reviewers remarked that there is a single filter, rather than two, as implied in the product description. Comparing to my old Bodum press, though, I can tell that the mesh on this filter is much denser, which makes me suppose that the "double" is actually embedded in one (otherwise, it would be rather cumbersome to have two filters -- you'd end up with grinds getting trapped between the layers).

I have to admit that one of the first things that attracted me to this press was the color -- I got it in orange, and it nicely complements my set of orange mugs from Maxwell&Williams and the Secura water kettle. But what sold me on this was the sturdy design: I love the thick lid and how smoothly the press goes down (it's like getting a car with a steering wheel support after you've driven an old clunker).

I agree with other reviewers that the little complimentary canister is not very useful though (I got one with the press, and another with a big canister I bought for the coffee): they are tiny mason jars clad in orange metal casing, but without the bottom, leaving rather sharp edges, which makes it difficult to hold on to while unscrewing the top (perhaps a more user-friendly improvement would have been having a similar enclosure as the big canisters). That said, this is a minor point and doesn't diminish the attractiveness of the whole press.
Go buy one.

I previously owned an insulated french press that I purchased many years ago from Starbucks. (I wanna say that I bought it like...8 years ago). anyway, it was time to retire the thing. The handle had broken off, it leaked, the plastic part of the lid had cracked in a way that made it rather dangerous to use. But, I was stubborn, and didn't want to get rid of it. I mean, that coffee pot was my longest relationship, how could I give it up!? But, finally, it was time. So I went on the search for a comparable replacement that could handle my 2-3 pots-per-day usage and wouldn't break.

After some research and searching around town for something I liked, I stumbled across the Coffee Gator on Amazon. I'll admit, I immediately liked it because of the name. I mean, come on, Coffee Gator? It sounds cool.
So I read some reviews, and finally decided to buy one.

It arrived in the mail 2 days later and I opened it up, excited for my new kitchen toy. It was in a pretty box, packaged up all nice, and I immediately put it to work. And omg, it's amazing!!

The double filter really does make a difference. (I was a little dubious about this before trying it out), and my coffee is more of a drink, and less of a 'snack' now. I had gotten used to having some grounds in my coffee, and didn't mind it, but gosh, it's nice to just drink coffee without stuff in it.
It keeps the coffee about as hot as my old one did (in it's prime). So as far as that goes, I'd say it's about average compared to other insulated presses. (I also have a glass press that I use for tea, and that gets cold really quickly, so it's better than those for sure)

The thing I like best about it, is that there are no plastic pieces to break off. The spout and handle are firmly attached (Welded?) to the pot, so they shouldn't come off. And the lid/plunger are metal as well. But not the kind of metal that makes your hands stink. I bought the gunmetal grey one, and just as a purely aesthetic comment, it's not as dark as it is in the Amazon pictures. Just fyi. It's still grey...but not really that dark. Which is fine. Oh, and it's not as heavy as it looks. I was expecting it to be pretty weighty, but it's not. It's not gonna give you a workout at 6am when you roll out of bed.

So ya, bottom line, I couldn't be happier. I would absolutely purchase again if a tank ran over my current one and managed to break it. And I would absolutely recommend it to anyone that loves coffee. And they say it's expensive, but for any insulated press you're gonna get into pretty pricey territory, and this one certainly is worth it. 10/10 Thanks, Coffee Gator!!

oh, and the little container that comes with it, is adorable. I'll never use it for coffee, but damn, it's cute.
Great coffee maker

I am so impressed with this coffee press and the small storage canister that came with it! I ordered it because it won't shatter, isn't shiny and prone to fingerprints and it doesn't look cheap! There is no problem with cleaning it. I gently lift up along the edges of the screen to release any trapped coffee grounds as I rinse it off. This coffee maker is solid feeling, has a good weight to it, and looks very stylish. I've packed it up to take with us on vacation and I don't have to worry about anything happening to it! It makes great coffee and keeps it warm, too.

There's none of the fragile glass or flimsy plastic parts other presses I have purchased use and it's 100% free from BPA.
