Followed directions with oil mix ratio and bar chain oil, it started fine, ran for 5 min to warm up and then died, went to pull start again and third pull the starter cord broke off, very disappointed!
Lots of problems starting this chainsaw

This is a really nice looking gas chainsaw. My Husband has had a chainsaw in the past, but he sold it when he moved into an apartment. Since we bought a house 4 years ago, we have been wanting to get a chainsaw. We desperately needed one to trim a tree in our yard and cut down some thick 40+ feet tall bamboo. This need became even stronger when Irma came through (I'm in the Tampa area) and caught some of our bamboo on fire (when it knocked into power lines) and had it shooting into the sky. My Husband lit up when he saw the chainsaw. He had never used the Poulan Pro brand, but he said it looked like a really nice chainsaw.

We bought gas for the chainsaw and followed all of the instructions to get it started. It would not start. It kept turning over and then dying. It took my Husband almost an hour to get it started. He was beyond exhausted, super sore and literally screaming in our back yard of frustration. I told him to forget it...he was persistent. He finally got it started only to chop down 3-4 bamboo shoots (ours are about 10 inches across and super thick) and not be able to go any farther because his arm muscle was cramping and he had heat exhaustion. The chainsaw is also quite heavy and after pulling the choke for an hour, he just didn't have anything left in him. I understood and we gave up until another day. On the second try, it was yet again another struggle to get it started.

I am not sure if we have a faulty chainsaw or if it is the brand. However, this chainsaw has been a struggle for us and it isn't really worth it. I would recommend going with a different model/ brand. We followed all instructions, and he has owned/ used a chainsaw before.
Very nice easy start

Very nice easy start, simple instructions, filled with bar oil 50:1 gas oil mix, adjusted new chain and pulled the start line. Primed the bulb and carb moved choke full then to partial and easily pulled rope again and machine started right away. Tested run and speeds low to high and machine ran smoothly. Went to neutral low speed and pulled chain brake and released chain brake and everything operated 100 percent. Great price for outstanding quality in a 16inch chain saw. HAPPY!
I was expecting a well tuned machine but was disappointed. First of all I followed the instructions exactly

I was expecting a well tuned machine but was disappointed. First of all I followed the instructions exactly, 10 prime pumps, full choke, etc, etc.
It started ok, but then died as if the idle was not high enough. followed the hot start procedure, it started ran 30 seconds and died. 10 pumps of prime half choke, started and died again.
Had a Poulan years ago and had the same problem with it after taking it to a shop for tuning even. Not willing to put up with this starting procedure.
I am pumping and pulling my arm and hand off getting little work done. Returning saw going back to Stihl product.
