I work on boats and we use propylene glycol antifreeze to winterize and I'm constantly checking out buckets as we run motors on the antifreeze. I have several coworkers who have went through mac tools and snap on tools and purchased the same tool as this but for a much higher price and a better quality. This serves it's purpose once you do the math and figure out how far off it actually reads. As my coworkers read in the area of -40 mine says -30 so it's about 10 degrees off compared to the higher quality higher priced ones. I made sure it was zeroed in at a 0 on water line.... followed directions and did exactly as directed in booklet. I'm a very particular guy and I regret spending the money on this just to have a very inaccurate reading each and every time. But if you are just starting out as a greenhorn mechanic or an apprentice and do not have deep pockets and or do not want to spend around 150 on a refractometer from snap on then this will get you by, unless you have ocd which very well may be the case for me.
