This is my third purchase of down fill from three different suppliers, and this down is by far the best value of the three. We bought it to make a down filled comforter for our daughter who liked my down-filled backpacking quilt so much. We are very, very pleased with the quality of this down. It contains almost no pin feathers and no quills. It is amazing value for the price. Delivery was quick. This is every bit as good as premium 850+ down fill that I purchased from a well-known Southeastern USA seller of components for down quilts for about 1/2 the cost. We had enough left to make her a small down-filled pillow.

To measure out 1 ounce portions of this down to fill each baffle, I set up my one-man ultralight tent in the front room. I zipped my self in the tent and use my hand to stuff this down into the inside of a 12-inch long piece of 1-inch diameter light-weight PVC plastic pipe. I then weighed the down-filled pipe on a little electronic scale until the weight was one ounce more than the tare weight of the plastic pipe. After filling the pipe with one ounce of down, we inserted one end of the pipe into a small opening that we left un-sewn in the end of the quilt baffle and pushed out the down into the quilt with the handle of a long screw driver. It was pretty easy. The floating down was easy to contain and gather up inside the little tent, for almost no waste and no mess.

Used this pound of feathers to make my own backpacking quilt. The quilt turned out super good! Took it out on a 4 day backpacking trip in the Sierras and it was still toasty warm down to the lowest temp of 43 degrees. Bag measured out to 70 in height, 56in width just for reference, with about 3in height in baffles. Down looked 100% pure. Bag has a lot of loft and compresses down a lot. Easy to gain loft again.

Make sure that you use calendered or downproof fabric for extra water resistance. I also washed the bag in Nikwax Downproof. I added the feathers to the bag in the bathtub because they will get everywhere.

Overall, this bag cost me just over $100 in materials... Saving me about $170+! (see REI quilt for reference)

Really a nice package of super soft Goose Down. I used 1/4 of the pound to refill my favorite Goose Down Pillow. I was amazed how far 1/4 lb filled. It's like new! I did take someone's excellent tip & filled my pillow in our walk-in enclosed shower. I spread out a large bath towel over the floor & covered the drain, as the down does float all over the place. This made clean-up so much easier & contained the down. I also pinned the pillow in the shower too to make sewing that much easier. This is a very good product!

The down was well packed and amazing high quality period I stuffed 4 pillows for what was in one bag.
