Great little weather station.

I got the compact 01118M and it is working great so far.
Went from an older battery powered AcuRite and was a little concerned about electricity usage. After plugging it into a watt meter, it is only pulling 0.3 Watts. After some quick math, it will use 2.628 kWh per year. At my rates ($0.18.25 per kWh, which is high), it comes out to about 48 CENTS a YEAR to operate. Very affordable, cheaper than the batteries I was using with my old unit.
Electricity aside, the unit read about 2 degrees higher than actual indoor temps. Luckily there's a calibration feature that let's you calibrate your indoor/outdoor temperature and humidity. Now it's reading just fine.
Still waiting for it to "learn my weather" for the forecast feature (it takes 2 weeks). Will try to update later with longer term results. So far, so good!

Boy there were lots of negative reviews and I am not sure why. Did everyone not read the manual and just go directly to action verbs?
My sensor is on my back fence 150 ft away with all bars on signal strength. I used the auto dimming feature and I can read it across the room easily.
It took about 5 days to learn and ten the forecast has been spot on. Great product. The only negative is the thin fold out stand. It is pretty flimsy.
** Update. **
Well now I feel like some of you were vindicated. Mine worked just 10 days past the return date. It i is 18 outside and shows 71 and 1% Humidity. New batteries and reset of sensor and base changes nothing.
It's 48 this morning and Temp is 15 degrees off. It can be as bright and sunny outside with low humidity and it shows 100% and raining.
So now I have to fight with the vendor.

Perfect for what I wanted

Perfect for what I wanted. It has indoor and outdoor temp and humidity as well as 24 hour high/low. The forecast picture is a nice extra touch. It does need to stay plugged in, as with all the back lit clocks of this kind. And the screen is difficult to see if you mount it higher than eye level in a wall/shelf. But as long as it stays eye level or below it looks good. I like this one better than a lacross brand I tried and returned. It was easy to set up and sync with outdoor sensor.
Weather at a glance.

I like it because it has temperature and time readings you can easily read 15 feet away. It is also fairly simple, fewer things to stop working that I've found on most other AcuRite devices. Accurate? Who knows, but the barometric readings are probably close enough to track relative differences and determine a general forecast of what you can expect weatherwise. Same with the temperature and humidity readings. When it doesn't give you the readings you expect, change all the batteries. If it doesn't respond, throw it away and be glad you didn't pay a lot for it. UPDATE: After using this device for a few week I'm going to dump it because I've had to replace the send unit batteries three times, the last with lithium batteries as recommended and when the temperature drops below 10 degrees f. the outdoor readings stop working. It actually read down to 5 degrees with standard dry cells. With the lithium batteries the reading froze at 8.6 f. I guess if you used it in Key West you wouldn't have this problem.
THIS...THING....IS....AWESOME!!!!!

THIS...THING....IS....AWESOME!!!!! I can't wait to put up some pictures of it once I get settled in the new residence. Just match the channel in the receiver to the channel on the transmitter (both located inside the battery compartment), put in the batteries (and plug in the receiver as well for light up function), hang up the transmitter, and you are done. It's really that easy! It was displaying accurate information within 3-5 minutes and I also didn't even need to look at the directions to set the date and time on it. I have yet to use the alarm function but I am sure it is just as easy. Just wish it had military time, but I can do without that. It does need to be at a counter or higher counter height to be able to see it accurately, as others have said. However it is VERY easy to read what numbers are what, even from a distance. So awesome I even got one for my family.
