Let me start off by saying, this product was decent while it lasted, aside from the fact that everything was a shade of pink, I could live with that. What made me give It a 1 star review is the fact that today driving home from work, I noticed the camera wasn't working. I double Checked my wiring and everything was good. When I got back in my car later for a drive I started smelling a burning smell coming from the back of the car. I immediately shut off the car and ran to the back and popped the trunk. The whole trunk was filled with smoke. After it cleared I checked it out and it was the junction box where the power and signal go in. It had melted almost completely and smoked up. I would hope it's just a fluke because I haven't read about this happening to anyone else. But I'm contacting the company now to see what they are going to do about it.

This is my third back-up camera. I orginally installed the Esky camera. The first one got damaged in an accident and the second one went monochromatic pink and the image would reverse rendering the camera useless when turning. After reading up on the Totally Upgrade 2n Generation Car Rear View Reversing Camera, I wanted to give it a try. This camera looks much sleeker than the Esky. I was worried about the night vision, but the night vision works equally as good as the Esky. The best thing about this camera is the 149 degree camera angle. I was going to buy another camera that had a 179 degree camera angel, but after reading the comments regarding distortion, I went with the 149 degree camera. It is awesome! I have way better vision that captures the entire width of the truck as well as the lower bumper. For the price point, you cannot go wrong.

I installed this on my travel trailer so that I can see while backing it up. It produces a clear image and the adjustable angle of the camera means I can compensate for the somewhat wonky angle of my license plate. It is important to note that many trailers do not have reverse lights, and, therefore, no means of powering the device when the vehicle is in reverse only. I wired mine to the tail lights. Hence, I can turn on the camera just by turning the lights on in my truck. The camera will come on whenever I drive with the trailer at night, but if I decide I don't like that I can put a switch on the power wire under the dashboard of the truck. This unit makes a great second camera. I already have a back-up camera on the truck, but the display has two inputs. I wired the trailer camera to the primary input, so whenever the trailer is hooked up, that camera is displayed. I used a hard wire to connect the truck camera to the display and a wireless transmitter for the trailer camera. This product comes with a power wire only. You will have to decide how you are going to connect it to your display, and obtain appropriate hardware.

This camera is worth every penny. Great price and easy install. Highly recommended! My Toyota now has an excellent backup camera paired with my pioneer nex head unit. Get one if you're even thinking about it.

Edit, I just bought the updated version and am excited to get it installed. Just remember if you hook it up to an aftermarket stereo you will need to run a wire from the back up light to the wire on the stereo harness labeled reverse. I don't remember if mine came with the wire to run, I may have misplaced it or used a different rca but either way it was a simple install. I ran the video rca with the wire connected to the reverse wire on my pioneer. I connected the positive to the rear back up bulb and grounded the black wire to a piece of metal that is connected to my frame and close to the splice location.

If the new one is clearer and more waterproof then that will be great. I'm most excited that I can put the plastic piece behind the license plate. The current camera has been through a drive through car wash several times.

Most people don't pay attention to cutting the wires if you do not want the backup help lines.

This is a good camera. The image is clear and I have not had any issues with it at all. Install was easy because it uses the very small video cable connectors unlike another camera I purchased that used standard RCA. Since the connections were so small It was fairly easy to find a path for the cable to get into the rear of the car. The only negative I can say is that sometimes when I go through a carwash the metal mounting tab can get bent to the side and I have to go realign the camera slightly. The advantage to the metal mounting tab though is that it can be aimed at virtually any angle. The other camera I have is much more difficult to aim and has limitations.
