Confusing instructions

The booklet this comes with feels like it was written by ai attempting to sound like Tolkien. I gave up trying to figure out how to use the other parts of this but all I really wanted was the compass and that seems to work fine.

This thing is made out of metal and they didn't seem to skimp. It's not HEAVY heavy, but it's heavy for a compass and I feel like if you threw it at the wall it would 1) be fine, and 2) stick in the hole. If you're super worried about the backpacking with the lightest everything, skip this. If you wonder why nice things keep breaking around you, *buy this nice thing*, because this compass is easy to use, looks nice, feels good in my hand, always points to magnetic north (which is apparently an issue for some of the cheaper compasses I've seen) and has a convenient and legible bubble level on it to help you keep the dial in its (reasonably wide) range of operable angles.

I'm happily surprised at the quality of this compass. Until I got it, I have relied on typical non-folding mid-quality ones, those simple button ones, or my phone. It's like comparing steak to hamburger.
I rate it 4 stars instead of 5 though, based on an issue unrelated to its quality: The instructions are so small that I had to take pictures of them and blow them up. Even then, they were blurry. Why not include instructions in a larger font size? Is that so hard?
