I live in an old rental with three dogs who REALLY like to watch stray cats out of the windows. They kept busting blinds with their noses, so I bought these to try and save us some of our security deposit.
I just put them up. It was ridiculously easy. I didn't even remove the brackets for the normal blinds (since they'll have to go back up before we move anyways); I just stuck them above them. They really don't look half bad. We're actually surprised at how well they block out light.
Mine came with plastic clips, and other little plastic things that I have no idea how to use. I simply used the included Velcro on the bottom to keep them "closed".
I'm pretty pleased, and my dogs are pretty confused.

I bought these to cover some windows that get blasted with early morning sun for about 4 months of the year. We aren't ready to commit to anything permanent so these are perfect. Instead of the adhesive they come with, I used Command Strips that are used for hanging picture frames.
The one thing I need to find is clips that hold them all. I have another brand on my kitchen windows, and those fit inside the clips. These are thicker so I've had to clip them in sections -- the bottom half has its own clips and the top half has its clips as well.

They look really nice and were easy to cut with a razor knife. When cutting, I secured the folded shades with rubber bands at each end, then cut. Mounted inside the window frame, so one less than perfect cut edge does not show. You can reposition the 3M adhesive if you do it quickly before the adhesive fully sets up. I waited about 15 minutes to reposition one, and it did take some paint off the window. Bought as a temporary fix, but they look good so I am in no hurry to find permanent shades.

I needed to soften the look of the uncurtained living room windows.
