Wire diagram wrong but GREAT product!!

I installed this on my 2008 Dodge Ram. I connected the power for the monitor to a key enabled 12v plug/cigarette lighter and the rear camera to my reverse light. I couldn't for the life of me understand why the yellow video wire has red power wires coming out each end. The diagram tells you to connect them each to a power source. I did this at first and once I started the car, the camera was constantly on. I disconnected them and it only turned on in reverse. Overall, this is great for the $$!

I was installing this in a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. Chevrolet makes the install more difficult than it needs to be by the way the dash is constructed and sealed up so well. I initially used the wireless transmitter and receiver, but with the power to the monitor always on it caused the screen to go blue when the camera was off. LeeKooLuu had thoughtfully included a video/power cable that I used to replace the wireless components and now the camera and monitor both turn on when the car is in reverse. For me it was easier to run the wire than it was to hunt around under the dash for a connection that turned the backup lights on.
The picture is great both night and day. My only real issue was with mounting the monitor. The Suburban has no flat surfaces on the dash. Everything has a slight curve and it keeps the included double-sided tape from sticking securely.

The camera itself works ok most of the time. I had the unit professionally installed on my RV using a wireless connection. It is subject to occasional interference for no apparent reason. It clears up is less than a minute. I set it up to serve in place of a rear view mirror. The biggest negative is the mounting bracket for the display unit. This bracket is 100% useless. It is impossible to get it tight enough to hold in one position. I finally solved this problem with a different (magnetic) mounting bracket. The bracket for the camera works well.

Does not do well in bright sunlight. Green grass looks like snow. ( all white ) No matter how much I turned down the brightness of didn't make much difference. Poor color. Some interference. I returned the wireless to Amazon & bought the same with cable in another brand. Same camera & monitor with cable. Grass is now green ( light green ) color was lightly. Sometimes more black & white than color. No interference. But is does the job. Try & get a backup camera at dealer ship for $ 65.00.

The 100ft range is ONLY in an open space. Even with that, I thought the meger 30 feet from the back of my camper to the display would be no problem. Boy was I wrong! I got little to no signal at that distance. Even moved the monitor to the back of the truck cab... no improvement! I ended up purchasing a 9db antenna and that took care of it.
