I used this (with BMW's ISTA/P) to reprogram my X5, worked great. I set the voltage to 13.5 volts and it didn't draw more than 60 amps (this thing is rated for 70 amps continuous, so the X5 was within its capacity). This unit is more expensive than others in Amazon, but I really like its size, the fact that it works on a regular 15A outlet (so I didn't have to mod my house wiring). I haven't used it for charging. Overall I'm happy with my purchase!

I got this primarily to do some coding on my BMW. I am an enthusiast, not a professional, so it was a bit of a splurge (though if you think in money saved by not going to dealer, I still came out *way* ahead.) Anyway, it worked very well for that. You can actually monitor the amperage draw which I found rather neat.

But I found another way that I can get a return on investment with this and it is properly charging/recovering batteries for longer life. I had a previous "Die Hard" smart charger and it was fine for simple charging if you are patient. But, I have a few motorcycles and even on maintainers, I've had battery issues from not always riding them very often. I had a rather expensive Odyssey battery that had seemed to of "died". Wouldn't take a charge on the smart charger, wouldn't hold a charger after jumping the bike, yet it really wasn't that old as far as that type of battery is concerned.

I threw it on this bad boy and listened to the fan go up and down as the machine did all kinds of cycles for hours. I assumed this was the desulfation program or something. But, the battery seems to be happy again though we'll see if it continues to hold out. That right there saved me from chucking a 2-year old Odyssey battery and replacing it with another though which is more money saved. I might just get in the routine of regularly hooking this up to my more sedentary vehicles to make sure they keep a good charge and healthy condition.

The media could not be loaded. Ive been doing my research on purchasing a battery maintainer strictly for module programming. My first choice was for OTC but the model was sold out everywhere! The Schumacher INC100 100A 12V was the next choice.
The seller I purchased from was American Mechanic in Lakeland FL. I paid more intentionally paid more just for the peace of mind that the package would be boxed properly and it was! Nothing came damaged.

The INC100 has a sticker that says made in China but the quality looks and feels great. There is no main power on/off switch but I can live with that. The battery cable and AC cord are about 8 feet in length each and felt heavy duty. The battery clamps are strong and insulated but im not a fan of the 45 degree angle. Some of the other reviews said they do not fit well in confined areas(I will have to see). The outlet is the standard 120v 15amp rating that we use here in the USA.

As for now my hopes are high. I'll increase my 4 stars to 5 if this thing makes it past a few years(lets not forget I paid 800$). If something bad happens I'll be sure to update my review.

Schumacher nailed it with this model....it does not drop the voltage more than 0.02v as it should.
i been using a snap-on for years and i always had to keep my butt tight while programming several cars. snap on was loosing almost 2v during the programming. Schumacher is nice and quiet the fan works when needed, the only complain i have is : no switch to turn on or off, you have to unplug the power cord, i dont know why they cheap out on a 10$ switch

A professional charger and clean power unit. I'm a heavy duty diagnostic specialist. I do allot of reprogramming I can set the voltage and not worry about it when re-flashing a module. The charger side is great, connect it, set it, and it takes care of it self. No more resetting a timer and worrying about over charging a battery.

Just a update,I've had this charger for over a year now, I've had no issues with it.
Second update, January 2016, I'm still using the charger. A co-worker borrowed it and accidentally connected it backwards to recharge a battery didn't hurt it bit. It still works just like new. I noticed the price has gone up quite a bit from what I paid but it's still a good deal.
