The mattock head is a good weight and cast from steel, a good choice. The orange composite handle us light weight and should be strong enough for years of use. It's smooth allowing the user to quickly and easily roll the head from the blade to the pick and back as needed; very useful. The friction-mount Head toi handle does come loose from time to time but takes maybe five seconds to re-set the head to the handle. Comfortable to hold and use, it should last a long time. Recommended for light gardening use.

A hand pick is very light and nimble. I find that the weight of it is just right. I especially like the orange handle. I can't tell you how many picks I've lost in the grass, only to find them before I mow over them. the orange color also makes them less susceptible to grow feet and walk away. Highly recommended.

Got this pick because I used to own a larger heavier one and needed something a little more forgiving on my back. This one is perfect. I have used it primarily for digging through the turf and tough ground to put new shrub and flower beds in. Have had wooden one just like this one for many years but wood deteriorated, so to replace it, got this one. It works like my old one minus the hustle of pick coming loose from handle. It is useful to remove buried rocks or to dig a small hole in hard soil.
