I usually buy Datrex emergency rations but I added a couple of packs of SOS this time just to try them:
* Unlike Datrex's credit-card shaped cookies, the SOS cookies are shaped like long fingers.
* Each bar is 4.5" long x 1.5" wide x .75" thick.
* Each package is 1.66 lbs containing 9 bars.
* Recommended consumption is 3 bars per person per day, so one SOS package is a 3-day pack for a single person.
* Crumbly texture, taste is slightly sugary and reminds me of Scottish shortbread and didn't leave me craving water.

It taste like a shortbread cookie that's moist. It's not dry at all and won't leave you thirsty or give you hiccups like dry tamales. They are very filling with each bar containing 410 calories. 9 bars are included equaling a total of 3600 calories. They do make me gasssy though and makes me want lay some big ol pedotes"¦
