Works perfectly and easy to clean. Great for singleton babies or as a backup/spare. Best brand in the industry!

We use this brand 2.5 years ago with our twin girls and loved it. It worked great for pumping and was really easy to clean. This is great for those looking to pump with singleton babies, or great to have a spare around the house (either as a backup or one upstairs). The pumping is fairly loud and can be quite comical at first (meep meep meep), but you get used to it quickly. This is a great set and the other brand we have tried for breast pumping.
Slow Pumping

I've breastfed all three of my children and am still currently nursing my youngest and have tried a lot of different pumps out. In doing so, I've discovered my favorite features and least favorite along the way. I am pleased to say that the Philips Avent Single Electric SCF332/21 Breast Pump, although it doesn't have all my favorite features, still manages to have a high rating in my book.
The fact it is electric and has a battery operated option is great. It takes four Double-A batteries which are not included. It does, however, come with a small adapter that fits any standard outlet. The adapter cord is long so it can be plugged up under a desk and other places that may have an outlet nearby without the need of an extension cord.
It comes with everything you would need to get started pump wise. However, you may want to invest with a hands-free breast pump bra if you don't want to hold the pump the entire time. The pumping speed has 3 expression settings (low, medium, high) after starting in the gentle stimulation mode. I did find the expression weak compared to other nursing pumps. This pump keeps things very comfortable especially during the most sensitive times, however, the speed is sacrificed in fully emptying out each side. Where this may be okay for at home or when traveling, pumping at say the office may not be the best with this model if you are short on the time it takes for full expression.
I do like how quiet this pump is. You can use it discretely in public say and it not bothers those around you.
The compact size is great. It can fit into a medium bag without issue and the pump and accessories needed are very light weight too.
This pump is very comfortable to use. I like how it works without having to lean forward awkwardly. It feels as natural as a pump can. The petal cushions are average sized and fit me just fine. You can purchase other sizes that would be the best fit for you.
There aren't a lot of parts to have to keep up with or replace. Cleaning and sterilizing isn't an issue. I think it's great that it comes with a bottle you can pump directly into and then feed to a newborn baby. There is also a sealing disc to put on the 4-ounce bottle to save the milk for later.
The instructional booklet is great. There are instructions in how to not only use the pump but in feeding, storage of milk, proper disinfection and so forth.
A welcome addition is the $30.00 worth of coupons and that there were also two sets of breast pads one for the day and the other night.
I typically prefer a double pump but as I don't pump as much since my youngest eats more foods now I prefer a single pump. This pump is perfect for my occasional pumping now but would not have worked out in the early months where I was supplementing with a bottle more to get her used to if I was away during feeding times. If I was pumping for every single feeding, I feel expressing with this pump would eat up a lot of time since it's slower. The slower than I am used to expression of milk with this pump is really the only thing I can find fault with.

Assembled the equipment and turned it on but no suction

It's a shame that this product doesn't work. The set up was not complicated and took me literally 5 min to put together but no matter how many times i took it apart and made sure I followed the instructions mentioned in the instruction manual, I had no suction happening and so couldn't express any milk. The manual says that if this happens I need to reach out to Phillips support and has given me a website but in my opinion a customer service phone would be more helpful. I plan to reach out to them to see if they can help fix it. Super disappointed because I relied on this and it didn't keep upto my expectations. Trusty medala here I come.
Great pump!

This is an excellent breast pump. For those of us that find pumping difficult, a single pump is ideal. I can nurse on one side while pumping on the other side. Using an electric pump is easier than using a manual, for sure. The Avent pump is more comfortable that the other brands that I have used. It is also easy to clean. I appreciate being able to pump straight into my Avent bottles. I have been very happy with my Avent pumps!
Not enough suction power
MyPenName✓ Verified Purchase•January 1, 2018
Not very efficient/powerful. It's ok to use while nursing on the other side if you're someone who overproduces and want to use something a little more compact than a double set up. It helps the milk flow a bit better when you're nursing on the other side while pumping with this since the suction isn't that great. Can't get a full bottle as quickly as with the previous model/brand used. Different women may have different experiences, though. In my case, it just wasnt a good option.
