It works when my lawn is not as green as it should be. Dissolves quickly and so far I have not burned the grass by putting too much down. I did not have it analyzed just like I never analyze other fertilizers I buy so I assume it is at the strength listed. I like that it seems to me that it would be immediately available once the water hits the crystals. I like some other types that have a longer release period as well but this seems to give a quick fix when my lawn is not looking its best.
