Great little device. My friend and I were recently talking about how we could hear of something or are talking about something and then grab our phones to look it up and basically the search words get filled in immediately, as if the devices are always listening.
I received a phone call and forgot to unplug the mic lock and the person couldn't hear me, so it works.

Well privacy is the cornerstone of liberty, apple and the ones following suit did not remove the headphone jack for courage or anything of the sort in the same way they did not remove the power brick from their new offerings thinking about the environment.
Nope the jack was taken away because it allowed little gadgets like this one to short circuit the microphone and prevent any unauthorized recording of the phone's surroundings.
These little things are a heaven sent for a privacy concerned citizen like myself and this is the second 5 pct pack I've bought, recommended.

Does the mic lock work when the phone is off?

Some people can hear my conversation through my android phone mic when my phone is off. May I know whether the mic lock works when the phone is off? Can they hear my conversation when I insert the mic lock in the phone jack when my phone is off?

It's a fraud. I have been spied on for five years by a psycho ex. thinking my privacy would be secured when I bought this product. And it wasn't. I recently filmed a video accidentally with the mic blocker in, and the audio came through loud and clear. This product is a scam and taken off of Amazon. The have scammed a minimum of $40,000 off of people! And that's just for people who wrote a review. Don't buy it.

Bought a 5 pack. Laptop 1 (Acer): No change, device still uses internal mic, but the mic-bloc cuts out the speakers, so I can't block the mic without losing the ability to watch a movie or do youtube, etc. Laptop 2 (HP): Mic-block works, but by completely killing the recording function of the laptop. As soon as you plug it in, the laptop stops recording, firing off a recording error message.
They look nice though. I'm not saying they won't work for everyone, quite possible with some windows tweaking, and maybe depending on drivers etc on your laptop possibly they could work fine.
Update Feb 4th, 2019 - The owner of the company, Ric, reached out to work with me on the issues I was having, and has offered some awesome alternative suggestions that look like they will help. That is great personalized customer service, I've changed my rating to 5 stars based on this. The customer experience is important and they really came through for me. Thanks Ric!
