Go with the Netro! Better than the rest!

I absolutely love the Netro Smart Sprinkler!
I did a lot of research and price comparison prior to making a purchase. I was down to a choice between RainMachine and Rachio when I stumbled upon Netro. Netro had exactly what I was looking for! It does all the smart watering things you expect (gathers weather forecast, adjusts schedules, plant database, etc.), but where it excels is with the optional plant sensor, and in customer service.
The plant sensor can be used anywhere, and it is more of a soil/weather at your yard sensor. It is solar powered, so as long as you put it in a place that gets sun for at least an hour a day, you'll never need to replace a battery or charge it. Mine is in my front yard in the grass as this is my main watering zone. The sensor adds to what the Netro already does great by giving you actual weather for your house, not just your city. It has been raining/snowing here for the past 4 days and my sprinklers have not come on once, where they would have come on 4 times had I not upgraded to Netro.
Their customer service is fantastic, and the company reached out to me prior to my install to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase, and to offer assistance, if I needed it, to do the install. I appreciate a company that stands behind their product like that.
I did not need assistance with the install as the entire process is very straight forward and I had my old system down and the Netro installed and up and running in 10 minutes. The plant sensor took another 3 minutes, plus finding the right spot in the yard to stake it.
Netro is building a database of local regulations regarding when you can or can't water. My area was not in the database when I installed, but there is a place in the app where you can submit missing regulations. You can also set your own regulations if you prefer, however, I suggest submitting your local area regs, if they don't already have them. I sent min in on a Saturday and they were uploaded and on my system by Monday. Amazing!
Overall, I'm extremely happy with this system. I haven't had to adjust anything by hand (as I did before) and I haven't looked at the system to check on watering. I have looked at the system for data, which is just awesome if you are a data junky like me.

Works great with Google Home or Alexa

This smart Sprinkler works great. Setup was quite easy.
Small tip - First I had configure the mobile app wifi setup by connect the adapter line to Netro Sprite and complete the setup process inside my home before going outside/garage to setup the Zone line. Which helps me the signal strength and setup easily.
I had also configured the Netro to Google Home and works great. It doesn't have direct API feature so its limited with specific phrases only. You can't directly link Netro Sprite using Google Home App. You have to use Assistant app to talk through and link.
I've had given the instructions below:
Here is how you connect Netro to Google home:
Please use your google assistant app to find "Netro Sprite", by directly typing "talk to Netro Sprite". Then tap the "link" button, and you will be redirected to the account login page. After using your Netro account to be successfully linked, you will be able to use google home to work with Netro. You can talk to your Google home like: "Hey google, ask Netro Sprite to water zone two for 5 minutes." or "Hey google, ask Netro Sprite to stop watering." The Netro Sprite should start/stop watering accordingly.
Here is how you connect Netro to Amazon Alexa:
After you have added "Netro" to your Alexa skills, please enable it and the Alexa app will jump to the "link account" page. After using your Netro account to be successfully linked, you will be able to use Alexa to work with Netro. You can talk to your Alexa like: "Alexa, ask Netro to water zone two for 5 minutes." or "Alexa, ask Netro to stop watering." The Netro Sprite should start/stop watering accordingly.

Great asset to my smart home and easy to set up.

I wanted a controller for my sprinkler system but didn't want to jump into a super expensive option. This controller fit my budget and has more than exceeded my expectations. The app is intuitive and the install was a breeze. Although we've been in the cool months and it hasn't watered very much it is smart enough to know that when it rains it doesn't water and I haven't had to touch it once since installing. It's addictive to check the app every day and see how the dynamic smart schedule has changed and is forecasting upcoming watering. Anybody wanting a smart controller for the sprinkler system can't go wrong with this one.. The design is attractive and didn't require me to hide it in a dark closet. Pairing with my wireless LAN was a snap. The Whisperer was a little more challenging but reading their help section and contacting their staff, solved my problem. I was amazed at the speed of the response and reply to my inquiry. Just remember to pair it with the GUEST Wireless on your router if your having difficulty. Once I did that I was up and running. I'm going to purchase a controller for my parents so that they don't have to worry about turning sprinklers on or off and let them enjoy their golden years with one less worry.
Finally! Thank you Netro.

I'm a huge fan of simple user interfaces, especially ones that hide advanced feature like Netro. When my last outdoor irrigation control system broke I wasn't overly sad. I never got how these old systems could make something so simple as watering 4-5 zones so complicated. I struggled with how to set up zones manual watering, over watering, so much so when the system broke we just used the hose or manual operation for a few months.
Then along cam Netro. My installation was more than 15 minutes because I had an outdoor hard-wired box I had to rip out, put a new case that included a GFCI outlet and hard wire GFCI, which is not trivial to the uninitiated. After that process wiring Netro was a breeze. Remember to take a picture of your old wiring then just plug it in.
Netro booted right up, and the app walked you step by step through the process. I didn't know which zone watered what so I just left the names as-is because you can manually press play and see which is which after.
Now irrigation has caught up to technology or technology has caught up to irrigation. I basically set it and forget it, checking the app here and there. It does show ground moisture level which I wonder how accurate it is, especially here in the desert. I also like that follows water restrictions and limits watering to what's needed. I'm not a fan of using anymore water than is needed, so this is a balance that keeps my wife happy with a small piece of grass and me happy that I'm not wasting more water than is necessary.
This system rocks,

I purchased the Netro Smart Sprinkler Controller over the weekend, received it yesterday, and installed and tested it in about 15 minutes during my lunch break. The previous home-owner had two controllers: An older model for 6 stations and a relatively newer Rainbird model for 8 stations. Both of these units were used to control 7 stations. I have no idea why it was setup this way, but I had lost the ability to identify and test my zones because the buttons stopped working on both units. After a little bit of research, I discovered the Netro Smart Sprinkler Controller. The reviews were promising and I felt I had nothing to lose. My expectations were far exceeded with this purchase. Not only did I have the unit installed in minutes with zero previous experience, I was able to test every zone, customize the names for quick reference, and even select what is being watered--lawn, shrubs, trees, perennials, annuals, etc. down to the plant species. While walking around my yard and testing the system with my iPhone, I discovered a broken sprinkler--bonus! I also noticed that all local regulations were automatically reflected in the watering schedule. The Netro Smart Sprinkler Controller is going to pay for itself in short order. I'm looking forward to adding this unit Alexa in the future. To note, I received a nice thank you email from Netro after installing the product. I replied to Arlene and asked a question about the moisture monitoring that seems to be built-in. She replied right away! Evidently, the default moisture level is 75% and will adjust based on watering, soil, weather, and other indicators over time. However, you can add moisture monitors to the system if you so choose"”not something I really need at this time. All-in-all, this is a very sleek, easy-to-use and install product. If you're in the market for a new controller, or even if you're not and you want to do your part to conserve our precious water, especially in California, the Netro Smart Sprinkler Controller is amazing. Finally, I wouldn't be going out of my way to write this review if I didn't believe this is such a great product. Netro is a startup company, but they are light-years ahead of the competition and I'm certain they will develop many more useful products utilizing smart technology as more people use the product and provide feedback. Bravo Netro!
