Works great, a few observations

Works great - speed test shows it's not quite as fast as say the WD 8TB external My Book drive (tested using the same DiskBench software and the same USB 3.0 port)
Also beware that if you put a WD RED drive in this thing, that at least on Windows 10 anyway, it will constantly turn off/power save, meaning there is an annoying delay before you can get to your data. This still happens even if you disable power management of this device, for both USB and DISK. Not sure if it's a firmware problem with this enclosure, or another Windows 10 "feature" gone awry.

UPDATE: Original negative review changed, since Seller sent replacement unit - First unit I received showed weird symbols/spaces and numbers, and not the proper name of HDD in the enclosure - This one does show proper name of HDD, no weird symbols.
This enclosure has limited S.M.A.R.T support depending on the software used to read the drive, but not compatible with S.M.A.R.T. self-tests.
Enclosure does read and write fine. Not sure of speeds, but will update once I receive my new back-up HDD and do a proper system back-up.

If drive isn't being detected it may be a faulty cable

I got the enclosure and it had trouble detecting the HDD with it disconnecting or not being detected at all. It seemed to be related to the cable, since depending on how I moved it around the HDD would be show up.
Out of curiosity I tried the cable that came with my western digital portable drive, and the HDD was detected without problem.
UGREEN sent me a new cable free of charge when I let them know my device seemed to have a faulty cable, but that had the same results. So not sure if the quality of the cable provided by UGREEN is faulty, or maybe the port on my particular enclosure was a size mismatch for the UGREEN cable leading to it not fitting as snuggly and securely as the western digital cable.
I was partially refunded, and am currently using the enclosure without issue for with the western digital cable I got.

Turned out to be a great enclosure

I had some problems when I first got the enclosure because it didn't work with any of my three 1 TB drives (Seagate and Western Digital) and I originally gave it a one star and was planning on sending it back and I contacted the company and complained. However, I later found that the drives had not been inserted properly. I don't know if the alignment wasn't right but now it has been working with all the three drives now and I have been transferring data at very high speeds. I deleted the bad review and replaced with this one. When the drive gets hot, I open the easy open cover to vent the heat. Sliding the cover was difficult the first time but now it opens and closes properly. I like the sleep feature that powers down after inactivity and turns on when accessed. I use a full height 3.5 drive but it still rattles a little bit up and down even with the cover closed. This enclosure uses pads to hold in the drive and doesn't use screws. I will use my shorter height drive on a different enclosure I have that has screw holes at the bottom to hold the drive. Overall, the enclosure is good looking and I like the larger on/off button,
It does what it states.

The product was used to mount a laptop 2.5 inch hard drive (HDD), after the laptop received a solid state drive (SSD). The HDD slid into the case between two flexible shock mount strips and positively latched onto the connector. The old HDD became a plug and play stand alone backup drive. Plastic is not usually my preferred material, this avoids any issues with the mechanical hard drive's circuit board touching the frame. The case is not overly durable like true mobile hard drives employ, but this unit will be mostly kept in a drawer. USB 3.0 and in-use light are definite good features.
