Please, please heed the negative reviews on this product. Given I'm somewhat handy I figured I could overcome whatever issues this would bring and save me the process of building a similar system from scratch. My homemade door turned out great and this was the last piece of the install. The pre-drilled holes WILL NOT line up with your studs, if they do go buy a powerball ticket immediately. Over 6 new holes I had o drill into the metal track, 2 ruined drill bits, 4 new bolt, and a horrific amount of drywall holes that now need patching, the door is up and hanging for the moment. Even with the gap between the two sections it manages to roll past. The stoppers do not function whatsoever as they are stopped by the powder coating and slide freely on the track. I don't know that I can recommend another brand I just know you must be better off by avoiding this one.

After looking for a solution at home and shopping lowes, home depot, and hoods, I decided to forgo the project because of price of hardware, on a whim I checked out Amazon (Prime), and found this solution Penson & Co. Sliding Barn Door Hardware Set Black 6.6 FT - Antique Style It arrived quickly, and complete, instructions were good, I had the hardware mounted in less than 30 minutes onto a brick wall. I would say skill set required was low, I did have to use a hammer drill to insert anchors in the brick wall. Second task was to buy a door, couldn't find one I liked so my 4 hour late night project with my wife providing much needed design advice rendered this completed project. I highly recommend this product.

This is my second Sliding Barn Door to build. I tried to order the other brand, but they were out. So I found this door and thought, well the price is right I'll see what I can do.

Overall, it's okay. The rail is lightweight, but my door is fairly light so I don't anticipate problems with it. The other system had a heavier rail and I would have preferred that. It should be okay though. The rails do not easily connect together though. The other system had an interlock that aided in getting the installation level. Again, I would have preferred it.

The Lag screws are okay. I did manage to over torque one and break it. The rollers are fine. The stops... well it came with an allen wrench that was probably too small. I managed to strip it out.

So overall the rail system is okay. I'm not sure if I would use it again or not. I would have preferred another setup, but it did the job. I suggest installing a 1x4 board where you plan to install it that way you don't have to worry about hitting the studs.

I ordered 4 sets of Penson barn door hardware sets in the past couple of years. They all arrived and everything was great. I ordered 3 more sets October 2017.

-We opened the first box and a major component, a roller, was missing. The box has an insert with a block of Styrofoam that has specific cut outs to fit the larger parts. The one hole just didn't have the part in it. I thought, "I'll just call them and see if they will ship out the missing part."
-We opened the 2nd box and all the large parts were in the box. However, all of the hardware needed to actually use the system was missing. There was a list in the box of all the hardware that is supposed to be in the box. It was all missing.
-We didn't even open the 3rd box. For one thing we need 3 matching sets. Secondly, if so much was missing I question the quality of the item. If they can't pack a box I question if we should trust the product intended to hold a heavy door and slide it back and forth. If it were just a lag bolt or something I wouldn't have thought it was a big deal.

When we bought the previous Penson door hardware sets the horizontal bars were very heavy and sturdy. The ones we received this time have much thinner bars. I am wondering if Penson has a new company making and packing their products. I have ordered 3 more sets on Amazon of a different brand for around the same price.

I have already contacted Amazon to return the 3 items. I strongly suggest not buying these Penson sets until Penson gets their act together.

Five stars all the way. Quality is excellent, delivery was timely, directions were easy as pie and you can't beat the price.
My local hardware store wanted 150 bucks for this same hardware.
Don't even hesitate if your on the fence, just buy this one.
We made our door out of cedar and it came out beautiful. I'm attaching pictures.
