Honestly for the price, it's a deal, the shavette has a nice balance to it, but It's a little on the light side. Shavette 4/5, good price.

Blades seem to tug on my skin a little, so I would recommend you buy different blades or do your research on them. I'll probably update my post in a couple of months.

I am a full time barber and have been looking for a heavier straight razor! This one definitely does the trick! It's comfortable in the hand and the head is just slightly heavier than the handle giving it an almost even balance with a smooth glide. Used it all day yesterday! The design is beautiful and clean. Definitely recommend this one!

I was initially apprehensive about using a straight edge on myself, as I am no barber, but this blade works excellent! Obviously, with it being a razor you must not press too hard (which is common sense), and the key is to make sure you use enough shaving cream. I have used it for a beard line up, as well as, for an entire face shave and I was extremely satisfied with the end result in both instances. So if you're looking for a good line up and/or complete face shave this straight edge works great!

Let me preface this review: I was not reimbursed for this review and I have never used a shavette or straight razor before, I had always used an electric razor as I get pretty bad razor bumps and all those 3 blade and 5 blade disposable razors make them way worse.

I purchased this after my barber used a straight razor on my neck and the razor bumps didn't come back! He explained how to use it so I purchased this and I was very pleased.

The quality of the handle is fantastic, it is light but has enough weight for tactile feedback and to counter balance the tang. The metal is of fantastic quality and holds the blades firmly. There were no visible defects of the wood or metal when I unboxed it. The weight is ample, not so light that I felt the need to excessively press down but not so heavy as to be clumsy. It closes properly as well, which seems to be an issue with a lot of the cheaper shavettes.

I took the plunge today and used it for the first time solo, granted I gave myself some razor burn and a few nicks but overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I would recommend that you look up the proper technique for straight razor/shavette shaving if you have never used one before. I ended up purchasing a sample pack of different blades as I have a very thick beard and was not sure how sharp the lord blades would be so I have not tried the blades yet though it is really nice to have 100 included (enough for 200 to 300 shaves depending how many shaves they are good for).

Overall, the quality of this product for the price really surprised me, I had looked at the parker and equinox but some reviews complained that the blade moved a lot, this was not an issue for me as the facon has a locking mechanism that presses both sides of the razor holder together, I even got the blade to "sing". I researched reviews for many of the lower cost blades and took a gamble on this one and I am sure glad I did! For the low upfront cost, included blades, and quality I think this is a fantastic straight razor especially for those looking to start using straight razors.

Update: I ended up trying the lord blades and they are fantastic! Sharp but smooth and less razor burn and bumps than the Mercer and kai blades I tried! So glad I got 100 of them included!
