I have not noticed any taste to these and I feel they are working just fine. I use them to lower my cholesterol. They are working pretty good my cholesterol is not perfect but I am not having to use prescribed medications to lower my cholesterol.

My mom has been on Red Yeast Rice for 3 months. Her cholesterol level has dropped over 60 points. I was very doubtful of replacing her Statin with this, but after her labs were done, I see the proof. She does not have any of the bad side effects from her previous prescribed statin. Her Internist is the one that suggested that she try it.

I tried this product because my doctor was complaining (as they like to do) that my cholesterol was kind of high. Myself, I'm not much of a believer in cholesterol theory, but no one likes to get nagged, right? I'd had so many warnings about prescription cholesterol drugs, including my mom's legs becoming paralyzed by them, and a nurse friend's mom being killed from them, that I decided to give this non-prescription product a try. After searching around the 'net, it seemed there might be something to it.

The recommended dosage is kind of high. I've been taking 2 tablets morning and 2 more in the evening. They are big tablets, the size of capsules. I've never had trouble swallowing pills, but some people I know would have to cut them in have to get them down. They do have a scored line across them to make that easier. I don't really notice any taste to them.

The big surprise to me, was that after taking them for about 6 weeks and getting blood work, my bad cholesterol went down below the 200 (physician nagging) threshold and my triglycerides (which are bad things too, I guess) went way down as well. My doctor was quite pleased and told me to stay with them.

It leaves a weird flavor in your mouth and they are large pills, but if it does the job of lowering bad cholesterol without the side effects of the prescription statins then it is still worth it!

Using this supplement, I was able to reduce my total cholesterol by 50 points in a month and by 100 points in 3 months. The dr. wouldn't believe I wasn't taking a pharmaceutical drug! This was a very effective product for me.
