Product works great. Be patient...the grooves do take a few times to burn in. The payoff is well worth it in the end. I would highly recommend this product. I liked it so much I'm now giving this unique product away to family/friends as gifts. So far the reviews from them have been positive. I really the assurance that a stray wire bristle will not be in my food now.
Don't eat sharp grill brush bristles!

Last summer a friend of mine was telling me about the dangers of using a wire bristle brush for cleaning grill grates. I laughed and told him that mine worked fine and I had never heard of anyone finding a wire in their food. Sure enough, no more than a month later, I took a bite of hot dog at a friend's 4th of July barbecue and felt something stab the roof of my mouth. I immediately spit it out and found a shiny metal brush bristle embedded in the ball of chewed food. Needless to say, I went and apologized to my friend for dismissing his prescient warning!
When grill season came around this year, I made sure to throw away my old grill brush and replace it with a Great Scrape. I don't want to risk serving my children food potentially laced with sharp little needles shed by my old brush! I found it quite easy to start the groove pattern on the wooden scraper, and it did a great job of clearing the grates of last year's BBQ remnants. Great product that I would recommend to anyone who owns a grill and doesn't want a perforated mouth!

This product does exactly what it was designed to do, scrape food off my grill. I grill about once a week and this product helps clear all the crud before each new meal is prepared. The grooves form slowly on the paddle and if you make sure you line it up each time the grooves deepen. We bought mineral oil to help gaurd the paddle over time. So much safer than a wire brush!

It works great but the paddle I received was not the one pictured. The item I received did not say The Great Scape on it and in place of that it said "BBQ wood paddle". I would have paid less if I wanted an off brand item. The wood of the paddle sent was also really ugly and full of knots. My husband has one of these and loves it so I ordered this latest one for my dad as a gift. My dad doesn't seem to mind (or at least that is what he is telling me) so I won't return but I feel like I didn't really get what I paid for as far as quality.

I sent this as part of my son-in-law's present (his wife purchased him a grill, so I bought accessories). When he opened it he was astonished I had sent them a giant paddle for their six-month-old and looked perplexed thinking I wanted him to use it for paddling. My daughter explained that this paddle is highly reviewed everywhere and recommended to avoid the loose metal bristles from other types of grill cleaners. I know this is true because I have found loose metal in food before, although never known anyone who has been harmed there are apparently thousands of cases every year in the US! He has only used it a couple of times so is getting the hang of it, but it seems to be working out fine and will always have a funny story associated with it.
