Quality control seems to be a problem. I had three of these installed by my dealer on my Winnie Drop. Two failed immediately and were replaced on the dealers dime. I just had one of these fail so I purchased a replacement here (after checking out some other options that showed me that this was the best I could buy for my tanks). Unfortunately, I ran an electrical test on the heater and found that at 13.5 volts it only draws 4 to 4.2 amps (not sure why this varies). It should be drawing 4.8 amps so I am disappointed that I won't be getting the max power. The thermostatic control does work but it just doesn't deliver the rated wattage. I am on the fence whether I will send this back since it's pretty close.
Update: April 6, 2021. Just had another of these fail (the failing unit worked for about 2 years). I have now installed 8 of these and had six failures. I am purchasing another of these since it fits perfectly on my tank and I haven't found anything better but the quality and reliability really needs some work.
