Newer bike forks work better than factory bike forks
Marshall David WahlstromHelgren✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 5, 2023
This fork worked as intended even though I really hadn't planned on replacing the fork, the problem with the old one was I couldn't get the newer longer quill stem to go all the way down and I tried grinding the inside of the steerer tube on the fork with no luck, and unfortunately I didn't have a lathe or even a reamer or something I could use to help remove enough material so the quill stem will slide in without issues. This replacement fork worked out much better than the old manufacturer fork I had. The nice thing is the fork steerer tube is 7 ¾ inches long and like a new chain has to be cut to the right length and with enough threads so the headset will fit correctly. Which I did manage to do right and was quite pleased with the results so far. I will add more pictures later but I was quite pleased with the results and I think the new fork is an upgrade from the old one. This is one thing I can't stand on older bikes especially those with fractional wheels the forks are manufactured in such a way that they limit or restrict the user from upgrading the stem to a longer length, or at least in my case it was, I guess I will just need to research this and find a good solution. Anyways I do recommend this product and for those who have short side-pull or dual pull cantilever U-brakes will most likely need an extension or just a pair of new brakes with longer reach.
