Upgraded from Linksys WRT3200ACM

30 Day Review: We've had this router running for 37 days. The router did automatically prioritize the 5 XBOX's in the home. I love the "simplified" menu. I think the greatest feature is the WIFI 5G and 2.4G overlay of the same name. On my older WRT3200ACM that 5G and 2.4G have to be named differently. We use the Linksys WRT32XB with the Linksys High-Gain Antennas, 4-Pack (WRT004ANT ) [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YJJAUSA]. We have a lot of walls and these really help make the difference. As you can see in the pictures the WRT32XB stacks nicely on the Linksys WRT 8port Switch. We do still run the WRT3200ACM, we try to keep very low priority devices connected to it like Alexa, Cortana or cellphones. Our household has over 30 devices that can connect to the internet, when all of the devices are connected to the WRT32XB, it does bog down as ANY 802.11ac device would, however; this slow down is not as significant as when all of the devices are connected to the WRT3200ACM.
Add 10TB of NAS Storage for $350

Not amazing but good for the price. Do yourself a favor and buy the following if you're trying to add some NAS :

External Device Ports:
Port 1 = USB 2.0/eSATA | 480 Mbps or SATA profile is 3Gbps (I confirmed with manufacturer).
- Buy this cable:
amazon.com/gp/product/B00GM7CMFG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
- It will use the "USB half" of the port to supply 5v of power to the 2.5" Hard Drive and
the "eSATA half" to achieve 3Gbps speed (theoretical of course)
- Buy this 2.5" HDD: $160 for 5TB
amazon.com/gp/product/B07NX8RKH4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Port 2 - USB 3.0 | 5Gbps - Get a second drive (linked above) and use the SATA to USB 3.0 cable that's included.

BOOM. 10TB of NAS with acceptable access speed for around $320 bucks.
Not worth $200 but definitely worth low $100’s for good WiFi speed

I hate getting old. As a generation X, I want to know that I have done the proper background check on everything I purchase now days. This was no exception. I agonized over what to buy and deliberated what I actually needed then what I actually wanted. Then Amazon days came this summer and I got this router for $109. Can't say enough how well it has worked right out of the box. Setting up was simple. I am and average techie of my generation. Follow the directions it's easy.

Now performance: I have an Xbox One and was hoping that it would provide wireless speeds for Black Ops in a separate game room than where the router was located. To my surprise everytime I have played Black Ops I have had very little to no lag playing live online. Just when I thinks it's going to glitch out, the Killer speed kicks in.
Amazing WiFi 5 Router!

I still have the one I bought brand new and it's still going! Decided to get a 2nd one for my security camera and other smart devices. Didn't like the stock firmware so I switched it over to DD-WRT and it made the WRT32x even better! Even though it's WiFi 5 router it's still an amazing wireless router! It can do WiFi 6 on the 5 GHz band but you have to change the settings for it because it isn't automatic.
Excellent product !!

The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because you have to tweak the software to make it work as an access point and keep the Wave2 MU-MIMO because it uses specific drivers. This router runs on a custom version of OpenWrt. If you install the generic OpenWrt to make it work as an access point natively, you lose the MU-MIMO characteristics needed to run multiple wireless devices without slowing down each other due to slower devices. Can reach 480Mb/s on 5Ghz wireless which is the same as my wired network.
