Won't stay up in the wind

After reading many reviews, we bought this tent for a beach trip in SC to keep our baby in the shade. We set it up in the morning before it got too windy and it did great. We bought the extra poles but it became apparent that the extra poles were not going to stay standing in the wind. Once the wind picked up around noon each day, this tent would not stay standing no matter we did. We tried everything, changing its orientation, leaning the poles, etc and watched online videos for help but it just couldn't stand up with any more than a breeze. We were so disappointed. It fell down one time while our baby was under it. Meanwhile, all the other tents around us were standing up without any trouble. I'm giving it two starts instead of 1 because it seems to be very well made and the sandbags are a great design. Would love to return this thing.
Best thing for shade at the beach, hands down!

Our first trip to the beach we saw an older couple using a Neso Tent, I had never seen one before and being new to the beach area we just brought an umbrella. It was a windy day and everyone's umbrellas including ours was falling over or flying away. I walked over to the couple to ask what it was and how it's used. They recommended it so we when we got home, I bought it.
We used our Neso Tent for the first time this last week on the beach. It's going to take a couple tries to get it set up just how we want it. It didn't take long to set up, it was up in a lot less time it would take to set up one of those beach tent things. Unfortunately hundreds of mosquitoes were swarming and we just couldn't take them anymore so we left after only an hour. It wasn't windy so I can't say anything about that. We did buy the extra poles to make sure we could easily fit our family of four, it's fits all of us and our chairs just fine!

My girlfriend LOVES the sun. She's basically a plant and is fine just laying out and baking to death. While I feel like I'm going to die if I'm in direct sunlight for more than 5 minutes. This tent makes the beach enjoyable for both of us. I got it in black for added darkness beneath the shade and it works. Even in direct sunlight, the black fabric doesn't get too warm underneath because of the breeze and that it's SO DARK. Bring a nice low-to-the-ground pop-up chair and this thing will be your best friend.
I've only used it once so far but the day I went, the wind resistance was impressive. It wasn't the windiest day ever but it was windy enough to blow some other group's beach umbrellas around while ours stayed put. It's also the most unique shade at the beach. No one else had anything like the Neso, the closest I saw was the folding canopies people take camping. It got a lot of looks.

I bought this thinking I could put it up by myself at the beach on Saint Simons Island. It took me four tries and had to dig holes to put the front bags in and dump water on them. I'm glad I bought the extra poles because I needed three on the front! It is a very windy day, about 15 mph winds with storms coming through last night. Other folks with umbrellas and the full frame pop up canopies are handling the wind okay. I'm glad I bought this though. It's light weight and do able with only one adult available to assemble. I'm sure it would have been easier with help.

We have had a smaller Neso tent for a while, and honestly I was a bit nervous about the bigger version, thinking the taller poles might result in more problems with stability and wind resistance. On the contrary, the big version seemed even more stable and the extra height and coverage was great. After struggling with umbrellas with limited coverage and keeping "shelter" type tents staked and stable on the beach, we are sold on the Neso design. Any tent will have problems in strong beach winds but it's easy to adjust the poles to compensate, and when they do fall it is non-catastrophic.
I did order 2 extra poles, which I would recommend if you really want this to be a "tent" experience rather than a lean-to shelter.
