It's basically Velcro (hooked side). They never stay on or keep the hair down by itself.
No need for hair clips anymore

This is great for my men's haircuts. No clips needed. Just need to press down on it when you put it on the Hair

Honestly at first, I didn't care for this grip because I wasn't using it properly. Now that I have learned how to use the grip, I use it daily. I have a short layered bob and use the grip to section my hair so I can blow dry each section. At first I didn't PRESS DOWN on the grip and my hair and the grip would move. I now know to PRESS DOWN on the grip and it will secure my hair in place. Now that I got the hang of it, I really like the grip and I ordered 2 additional sets.
