Excellent price and overall value. Devices work as intended. I put down 20 of these (from multiple orders) in strategic places. Coincidentally, only 2 days in place one of them responded to a suds overflow from the washing machine standpipe/drain. May have been harmless suds but did what it was supposed to! Compared with testing (install battery and touch sensor contacts for alarm) the only way I could shut up the real alarm was to pry top off and remove battery. Drying the contacts didn't shut up the alarm. I'm pleased that a battery was included with every unit. I plan to replace them all in a year or so. I'll go broke but plan to use long-life lithium replacements to hopefully extend period between replacements. One negative note. A unit in the 8 pack (2 per box) was broken and didn't work. Internal circuit board mount broken and electrical parts rattling around. I didnt bother with AZ return process as I would have had to collect one of the sets, repackage, etc. They were already placed and it wasnt worth the small cost to dispose of instead.

this time of year with all the snow melt the water table gets high enough that our sump pump runs constantly. we have it connected to a hose that runs outside to make use of all that water for lawn watering purposes. but sometimes if that hose gets bumped, crimps up the pump stops working and water starts to rise inside the basement.

on arrival you get everything you need including the nine volt batteries. open the unit, connect the battery, close the top and it's ready to go. it works using the two small metal pieces you see on the outside of the case. if you touch both for example with your hand it will sound off the alarm just as it does with contact to water.

so on day two after i placed these around the sump pump i heard the alarm from upstairs. i went down and saw the water had just started to spill out of the hole and onto the basement floor. i grabbed the unit, removed the battery, so it'd dry out and stop going off. fyi after a couple hours i put it back together and back to work.

turned out the hose had gotten crimped when an elk had gotten into our yard for snack time. left his/her calling card, a giant pile of elk droppings where it got caught up in the hose. a little something just to let us know of our night time visitor. that said i fixed the hose crimp, the pump resumed operation and the water level went back down to normal. due to the alarm there was no water damage whatsoever.

since then it has gone off one more time again easily heard throughout the house. i could not be happier with these little alarms. granted we have additional insurance for basement flooding but still the hassle of dealing with repairs is not one any of us want to deal with.

i would recommend these to anyone needing an extra set of 'eyes' when it comes to water level, potential water damage. these are great!

They detect moisture and alarm, letting you intervene before you have a flood on your hands. They work well, battery should be changed yearly. I wish they were a little louder, but for what they cost, well worth having some around the house.

This is the third time I have bought this product for different areas in my house. It has notified me of three different places that have a leak.

These little units seem to work well. Happily I haven't had anything leak yet, but I tested them and they all worked. They do come with 9V batteries but those batteries must be old because I had to replace all of them in less than 2 months. One by one they all started beeping every 3 seconds or so until I replaced the battery. So just be aware if you buy them, make sure you have replacement batteries ready because the ones they come with fail quickly.
