I haven't had to use this for starting a dead battery, but with winter coming, I want to be prepared.
A light tells you when to plug it in for recharging, and it seems like it needs to be charged a lot, even without use. It isn't a problem other than something you must remember to do.
It's a great device to have on hand just in case you need a jumpstart.
