Like a few other people, I rarely write reviews but this purchase definitely deserves one. Spend the few extra dollars on this..you won't be disappointed. I've seen cat towers in pet stores that are 1/3 this size for double the price and of lesser quality. My cat is 5 months old but very large for his age and I didn't want something flimsy that would end up breaking down. This tower is super sturdy and he LIVES inside the little house area. He tears at the scratching posts and flies up and down this thing without a problem. It takes a decent amount of time to put together but it's super easy (I stink at most assembly instructions). The hammock is a bit flimsy like other reviews have stated but not enough for me to care. This also comes with 2 extra balls which is pretty sweet in case the others get torn apart. I highly recommend for bigger cats..it's super tall and not excessively heavy as I can easily move it from room to room. Sturdy and very functional!

My cat gets interested in getting on top of the cat tree before I even finished building. However, I found this sharp edge on the scratching pose. Make sure you double check all of them before letting you cat on

So far so good. In all fairness, we JUST put the tree up TODAY! So, this review may be a little premature. But, I'll take ANY opportunity to post pictures of my gorgeous cats who seem curiously interested at this point. We're taking bets over here on which one will be the first to use the HAMMOCK. That was one of the reasons I bought this one. And the color is just perfect for our environment; i.e. grey couch, grey area rug, you get the picture. Our last cat tree was pretty much ripped to shreds within a year and a half. And hey, with three healthy cats, I fully anticipate this will be no different. But, what IS different is this cat tree, while costing less than what I believe my sister paid for the one we just put out to pasture, is so much more plush and cushy. It was MADE for adult cats, no question. The last one I am pretty sure was more fit for kittens. There is PLENTY of room for all three to hang out ... Those top two elements are nice spacious cat beds. There's PLENTY of lounging room in the condo area. And I am dying to see one of the cats get in that hammock!

In a dream world, I wish SongMics would make another, more "Castley" one. I bought this because it's big and wide and plush, looks comfy and I LOVE the color! But, my dream castle would have THREE condo areas ... like the one it already has. It would go ONE more level higher. And it would also include TWO sets of stairs. Our old one had those. And maybe some more cat baskets on the sides ... If SongMics is listening ... maybe you'll make a model like this for 2018 when we'll be ready for a new "house" ... till then ... this one is nearly PURRFECT!

P.S. My hubby had this built in no time at all. What, maybe 30 or so mins. It's super easy. He said it was much easier than the last one. Very high quality for the money.

I wanted to love this with all my heart. Once they got used to it, our cats sure have - our 3-year old, 9 lb. kitty loves to madly race up and down the whole thing, when she's not sprawled out in the hammock. Our more sedate, 16 pound calico is not a climber like her sister, so she only hops up to the lower level, but she really likes hanging out there. It's very sturdy, and no tippy problems.

And my husband, who fortunately is very handy reading directions, put it together pretty quickly, so that was not the issue either.

The problem we had was that despite its CARB certification, the thing out-gassed for several *weeks*. We didn't notice it at first, but after an hour or two -- seriously bad. Was it the wood? The fabric? Who knows. Once we'd put it together, it was much too heavy to try to drag outdoors, so the whole upstairs smelled like we'd just painted or something. And I think it was the reason it took the cats longer to be friendly towards it as well.

But now that the smell has worn off, we really DO love it, and feel like it was a great value. My advice would be if you love your cat(s), get this, but before you put it together, leave all the parts out someplace innocuous for a week or longer.

When this cat-tree first showed up at my door I was worried because the box seemed rather small and my cat is rather big. However, once I got this thing together I was quite impressed with the finished product. It only took about 20 minutes to assemble, and that's only because I put the big cat-house-level platform on the wrong way at first. Pay attention to where the drill holes are and how they are oriented to avoid construction delays! Other than that, this thing was a breeze to put together and only requires an Allen key (which is included).

For those who are worried about the tree's size and stability, be assured that my 12 lb. cat fits on any section quite comfortably and without any wobble or signs of instability. I was able to actually sit on the second level myself without any issues (I'm 6 ft / 185 lbs), so this thing is quite solid. The carpet is super soft, the platforms have nice cushy padding under them, and it's a neutral dark grey color that blends in well. The overall size is big enough to give my cat lots of climbing room and overlooks to survey her kingdom, but not so big as to take up half the living room. The hanging ball toys are a big hit with my kitty.

Buy it! You won't regret it and your feline friend will love you for it. Compared to the extortionate Pets-Mart/Co prices this tree is the deal of the century! (Those highway robbers would probably charge $200 for this thing)
