We cut the chord years ago. I replaced our old yagi/beam styled uhf/vhf antenna that gave us 23 channels from one of two possible metro areas as it was a directional antenna. I never gave much credence to these new digital antennas until I saw one of these in action at a neighbor's house.
I have since replaced that huge beam antenna with this flying saucer styled antenna from antop and went from 23 channels to 61 channels, pulling in signals from two different metro areas almost 180 degrees apart. One being about 50 miles away, and the other, 40 miles away. Not only does it work better than my old yagi, it is much smaller and not nearly the eyesore the old antenna was. I am very happy with this antenna. Just remember when mounting it, the higher the better.

Simple Omni-Directional Antenna Solution

I now have two of this type of omni-directional antenna. Each is from a different company with similar pricing. Both were purchased from Amazon and look like UFO's. The Antop is a little larger and works as well or better than the other brand. The other brand advertises the same range but did not include a cell phone signal filter. The Antop's mounting options and hardware are outstanding. There are actually two of the U-bolts included... not just the one as shown in the photos. Everything is plastic except for the U-bolts and the arm mounting screw... just like my other UFO. The Antop's amp/filter is essential to making this antenna work and the reception without it is remarkably deficient. I bought this model because it does not include a 30 foot cable to connect it to the TV. I already had a better cable and this model costs less without it.

I bought this antenna to get rid of my Dish subscription. I hardly watch TV anyways but wanted to have some local coverage during extreme weather events. I installed it on the roof on the old arm of the satellite dish and connected two TV's via splitters. If you want to connect multiple TV's, you do need a signal enhancer in addition. In the end, I receive between 60 to 80 channels, 10 of which are the local ones I was hoping for. All in HD and good picture quality. Worth the money and no more satellite tv bills.

I have had other antennas that gave me more chanels, but dealing with the directional rotor , guessing what direction the antenna was pointing was becoming a drag. I decided to try a omni antenna and must say I do have clearer reception with this item, but lost some my favorite chanels. The signal holds strong on several sets with no or little breaking or distorison of signal, perhaps if by adding a amplified splitter would help regain the lost chanels . All in all this antenna is bang for the buck as of day two.
